A Thuisti,

As we start a new school year I would like to welcome back all the children after the summer holidays. A special welcome to our new Junior Infants who are embarking on their new journey. We also have children starting in Rathfeigh who have come from other schools and a very special welcome to them also. I wish everyone in the Rathfeigh school community (children, parents/guardians and staff) a happy and enjoyable new school year. The new Junior Infants will be going home every day this week at 12 noon. From Monday September 4th the Juniors will go home at 1.40p.m.

“Tús maith leath na hoibre”

The old Irish proverb “Tús maith leath na hoibre” (A good start is half the work) is apt as we start the new school year. The children should get into a routine straight away after the summer holidays – going to bed much earlier, doing homework in a quiet place after school, packing school bag each evening etc. The children’s homework journals (1st to 6th class) should be signed each evening by a parent/guardian after homework is completed and checked. If you are unhappy with any aspect of your child’s academic or social development this year please make an appointment with the class teacher as soon as possible.

Department of Education Primary School Book Scheme

I would like to thank Maria Flaherty for all her hard work organising the books for every child in the school. I would also like to thank Leesa Flynn for helping Maria. Please ensure the children take good care of the books as some of them will be used again next year.

The children received their copies/folders/ homework journals today. The copies and folders are covered under the Primary Book Scheme. We will collect money for the homework journals (1st  to 6th ) next week. The cost is €4.00.
