A Thuisti,

Swimming

The children in 3rd to 6th class will be going swimming in Navan Swimming Pool for six weeks starting on September 12th. They will be travelling by bus – leaving the school at 9.25a.m. (approximately) and returning to the school at 11.30a.m. (approximately). Our Parents’ Association are paying €500 towards the cost of the bus. The cost of the lessons including the bus is €55.00 per pupil.

Parental Complaints

Our Parental Complaints Policy is on the school website. If you would like to discuss any aspect of your child’s educational or social development please make an appointment with the class teacher. These appointments will take place outside of school teaching time for health and safety reasons.

Government Free Book Scheme

The introduction of the Government Free Book Scheme has greatly reduced the financial burden on families as we start a new school year and particularly for those families who have more than one child in the school. Maria has done an excellent job organising the books for all the children so please ensure that your child takes proper care of these books as some books will be used again next year.

Art & Craft/School Journal

The ‘Free Book’ scheme does not cover the cost of the school journal or classroom Art & Craft supplies. The cost of the journal is €4.00 per pupil (1st to 6th ) and the cost of the Art & Craft is €25.00 per pupil.

Insurance

The school, like every other school in Ireland, does not carry Personal Accident Insurance. So if your child were to trip in the yard and fall he/she would not be covered for any ensuing injuries. The school does, however, carry Public Liability Insurance. Under this insurance a child’s injuries could be covered if, through legal process, it could be proven that the accident happened through culpable negligence on the part of the school. As it is unlikely that injuries will be compensated through the above, Allianz each year offers to parents/guardians a Personal Accident Policy cost €8.00 which provides medical insurance to cover all accidents 24 hours a day 365 days a year. Information on the cover provided by Allianz will be e-mailed to you today. It is not necessary to return the form to the school your child/children will be covered once payment has been made to us. We ask all families to take out this cover.

Online Payments

Payment for Homework Journal, Art & Craft, Insurance and Swimming can be made online. We will send you the link later today or if you wish you can send in cash. Please put money in an envelope with your child’s name on it.

Cumann na mBunscol Gaelic Football Competitions

The Gaelic Football competitions begin next week for the girls’ and boys’ teams. We have significiantly less boys than girls in the school from 3rd to 6th class. As a result the boys in 3rd to 6th train for the boys’ team. Girls from 4th to 6th class can train for girls’ team. The games are played on a league basis and our teams will have 3/4  games. This is a fun competition which the children enjoy participating in. I will be training the boys’ team and Ms. O’Donoghue/Ms. Reynolds will be in charge of the girls’ team. When we have the dates for the games we will e-mail parents/guardians.

Circus Photography

Suzanne from Circus Photography is coming to the school on Thursday September the 7th. to take the Junior Infants class group photograph. In order for your child to be included in the class photograph which we frame and put up on the wall each year, parents/guardians need to contact Suzanne to give their permission for the photograph to be taken.  Suzanne will also take individual /siblings photographs for any other children in the school who wish to have photographs taken. Please contact Suzanne today.
