A Thuisti,

Friendship Week

This week we will be celebrating Friendship Week with a variety of activities to promote respect and friendships in the school. On Friday we are having an ‘Odd Socks’ Day to show how special and unique all the children are.

Gaelic Football

Our boys’ and girls’ gaelic football teams played really well last week. The boys defeated Mt. Hanover and our girls were unlucky to lose against Mulhussey. Our girls are playing in Skryne this Thursday at 1.45p.m.against Dunsany. We will be leaving the school at 1.20p.m. Please arrange a lift for your child if you can’t attend yourself. Children going to the match must be signed out at reception. Our boys don’t have a game this week.

Mindfulness

We are fortunate to have Una Curran back with us again this year for six weeks of lessons with the children in all classes. These classes are free this year due to our successful application to the Ashbourne Municipal Fund (Suzanne Jamal). The lessons take place in the school hall during school on Wednesday afternoons.

Swimming

The children in 1st to 4th class will have their second swimming lesson this Wednesday in Navan Swimming Pool. They really enjoyed last week’s lesson and we hope they continue to make progress over the next few weeks. The cost per pupil is €50 (including bus) Thanks again to our Parents’ Association for their large contribution towards the cost of the buses.

Computer Lessons

Computer lessons with Colm starts this Thursday for all classes. The lessons last year were very beneficial to the children and they made great progress. The cost of the lessons were originally meant to cost €10.00 for 4 lessons but we are using the proceeds of last year’s Jumble Sale to reduce the cost. The cost now is €5.00 for 4 lessons. If you haven’t already paid please do so this week (please put money in an envelope with your child’s name on it).

Literacy Lift Off

Literacy Lift Off for 1st/2nd class starts this week. Thanks to Mrs Campbell for co-ordinating the programme again this year.

Parents Association A.G.M.

The Parents’ Association AGM takes place this Wednesday in the school at 7.30p.m. I have been invited to attend the meeting to answer questions that parents/guardians may have.

Tin Whistle

The childen in 1st – 6th will be starting to learn the tin whistle in the next few weeks. If your child hasn’t got a ‘D’ tin whistle and the ‘Tin Whistle Made Simple Vol 1 Book’ you can order them from the school.

The cost is €7.00 for the book and €7.00 for a tin whistle.

Art & Craft/ Insurance/Copies

Reminder – can you please pay for the above as soon as possible either by using our online payment system or send in cash in an envelope with your child’s name on it.
