A Thuisti,

Book Fair

As a little thank you to all the children who read numerous books throughout “Book Fair Week” and for being so resilient during Covid-19 we are going to give all the children in the school a free Folens Christmas Annual tomorrow (December 1st). The Folens Christmas annuals are celebrating their 50th anniversary this year and they have always provided great fun for children at this special time of year. I’m sure many people can still remember the excitement of getting these annuals every Christmas when they were in primary school! So next week the children will receive a Súgradh, Spraoi, Siamsa or Sonas depending on the class they’re in. The numerous activities, stories, games and competitions should keep the children happy and content for the early weeks of December. Some activities may be given as homework also.

Parents’ Association

The “Cash for Clobber” event will be taking place on Friday 11th and Saturday 12th December. All proceeds from the event will go to the Parents’ Association, who will in turn invest it into various school activities/events and provide financial help in buying necessary equipment, educational material and much, much more!

Due to the ongoing pandemic collection bags will not be sent home. Instead please fill refuse sacks with any unwanted clean clothing, bedding, curtains, shoes and handbags (see attached information flyer). Please encourage any family members grandparents/aunts/uncles, neighbours and friends to contribute also. We have partnered up with Cookstown Textile Recyclers who are offering a prize of €750 for the school (under 100 pupils) that collects the most clobber per pupil in the academic year 2020-2021. Please pass on this information to people in the Rathfeigh and Skryne community. The more bags of clothes etc that we collect the more money we receive! Please see the attached flyer from the Parents’ Association.

Student Council

Our student council members are organising a Christmas raffle for the children in the school. There will be two prizes of Christmas Hampers. One winner will come from the children in Juniors to Second class and another from Third to Sixth class. If any parents/guardians would like to donate items for the hamper please let us know e.g. selection boxes, sweets, cuddly toy, children’s magazine etc. The council members will be selling tickets from tomorrow. Tickets will be sold in strips – £3 per strip or £5 for two strips. Exact amounts only please. Well done Faye, Rhys, Isobel and Lucy.

Parent-Teacher Meetings

Most parents/guardians will have received feedback from the class teachers on their child’s progress. If you would like discuss your child’s progress at any stage during the course of the year please contact the school to make an appointment.

Board of Management Meeting

There is a Board of Management meeting this evening which will be conducted through “Zoom”.
