A Thuisti,

The opening of our school library on Friday was a great success. The day was enjoyed by the children, parents and teachers alike. It was great to see the large turnout of parents on this exciting occasion. Once again, we want to thank Mrs Vaughan and the fifth and sixth class pupils for their hard work in transforming the library. The children now have a library that they can be proud of and we hope they visit the library with enthusiasm in their time in Rathfeigh N.S. We hope the library will play a part in developing the literacy levels of all the children.

The occasion was made extra special with the beautiful cake made by Nicola Cowley. We really appreciate her time and effort in baking cup cakes for all children in the school. It was a huge undertaking but judging from the smiles on the childrens’ faces when eating the cakes it was well worth it!

We also want to thank Peter Lynch and Marie Craigie for taking photographs of the event throughout the day. We hope that some of these pictures will be on the website in the next week or so (www.rathfeighns.org).

Our local author Liz Gough, visited all classes last Friday. The children loved listening to her and asked her loads of interesting questions. The children rarely meet authors and hopefully she might have inspired some children to become authors when they get older.

Rounders practice takes place tomorrow (Tuesday 23rd) for girls in fourth, fifth and sixth classes after school from 2.40p.m. to 4.00p.m. All girls who are interested in training must wear football boots.

We want to remind parents that children must wear their school uniform. The exception is for P.E. days. If your child isn’t wearing the uniform a note explaining this must be given to the class teacher.

We have a healthy lunch policy in the school and the vast majority of pupils are adhering to this. Sweets, chocolate bars and fizzy drinks are not allowed except on certain occasions.

All classes are going on school tour on Friday June 7th .The list of school tours and prices are below. The prices do not include the cost of buses. We will let you know the cost of buses next week. We ask pupils from first to sixth classes to send in a €10.00 deposit for tours. Please send in money in an envelope as soon as possible.
