A Thuisti,

The Literacy Lift Off programme for second class pupils starts on February 4th. We would like to invite the parents of second class children to the school this Thursday (January 31st) at 2.00p.m. for an overview of the programme.

Swimming continues for first, second and third classes this Wednesday. The final swimming session is on Wednesday February 6th. Thanks again to all the parents who are helping out at Navan Swimming Pool. If you haven’t already paid (€25.00 for swimming please send in money as soon as possible.

It was great visiting classes on Friday to hear poetry and singing ‘as ghaeilge’. It was lovely to see children learning Irish with smiles on their faces. We are looking forward to seeing the 5th and 6th ‘dráma’during the week.

This week is ‘Catholic Schools Week’ which brings two important realities together. The first is the community of faith and the second is sharing the good news. The children will be exploring these themes during the week and we will have an assembly on Friday with the children to celebrate St. Brigid’s Day.

Enrolment Week. Enrolment for Junior Infants for September 2013 takes place from February 18th  to 20th 1.40p.m. to 2.40p.m. If you wish to enrol a child come to the office on any of the above dates. Please bring your child’s birth certificate so we can copy it for our records. If you know any neighbours/friends that would like to enrol a child please let them know.

Every morning the children assemble in the school hall. As a result, most children come into school via the pathway near the Staff car park. To ensure the safety of the children we would ask parents not to park or drop off or collect children in the Staff car park. The Board of Management has put up  a ‘Staff Car Park Only’ sign. Please respect this request for the safety of all the children.

The annual Credit Union Quiz takes place in Skryne School Hall on Monday 4th February at 6.30p.m. We have five teams representing the school. Congratulations to all pupils who got on a team and we wish them the best of luck in the quiz.
