A Thuisti,

Parents’ Association

The Parents’ Association will not be running the Christmas School Raffle this year due to the challenging trading circumstances of many businesses who would normally sponsor prizes. The Parents’ Association are instead participating in the “Cash for Clobber” scheme to raise funds for our school in early December. Not only does the scheme raise funds for our school but the items go to children and adults less fortunate than ourselves and it gives you the opportunity to declutter! You can recycle your unwanted clothing, bedding, curtains, shoes, belts and handbags. So let’s do our bit to help reduce, reuse, recycle and raise funds in the process. More details in next week’s newsletter.

Student Council

We had a very productive Student Council meeting last Friday with Faye, Rhys, Isobel and Lucy. At the meeting we decided we would have a non-uniform day this Friday. It will also be a day where healthy lunches are optional. We are a ‘Nut Free’ school so please don’t give your child lunch which has traces of nuts. Our student council is going to run a Christmas Raffle. There will be two hampers as prizes. One prize of a hamper will be for Junior to Second class and another for Third to Sixth. The hampers will have selection boxes, sweets, cuddly toys etc. If you would like to donate any items for the hamper please let me know.

Child Protection

In accordance with Section 11 of the Children First Act 2015 and with the requirements of Chapter 8 of the Child Protection Procedures for Primary and Post-Primary Schools 2017 the Board of Management of Scoil Mhuire Naofa Rathfeigh has a Child Safeguarding Statement and Risk Assessment in place. These are reviewed and ratified by the Board of Management annually. Our annual review took place on September 14th 2020. These are available to view on the school website in the ‘Parents’ ‘Policies’ section. A hard copy is available on request from the office. In our school the Designated Liaison Person is Seamus Tansley. Deputy Designated Liaison Person is Jackie Vaughan. I strongly advise all parents/guardians to read and familiarise yourself with these policies. Please e-mail the school if you wish to give feedback or comment on these policies.

Parent/Guardian Teacher Meetings

The class teachers are continuing with their parent/guardian teacher meetings this week. Please check your child’s journal for the day and time of the meeting which will be conducted over the phone. We thank all parents/guardians for their flexibility in conducting these meetings.
