Computers
The final computer lesson with Colm takes place this Wednesday. If you haven’t yet paid the €8.00 per pupil please do so before Wednesday (in an envelope with your child’s name and class on it)
Adult computer lessons (Free) continue this Wednesday morning from 8.55a.m. to 9.30p.m. We are delighted that more people are availing of these lessons which is part of our Meta Grant Application.
Math’s Week
We will be celebrating Maths Week in the school this week. The children will be taking part in a variety of interesting maths activities and puzzles over the course of the week. Please log onto mathsweek.ie for resources that you may use with your children at home.
Gaeilge
The children in 1st to 6th class will be performing short dramas in Irish this Friday for the other classes. Juniors/Seniors will be performing an Irish song for the other classes.
Swimming
The final swimming lesson takes place this Tuesday. The children have made great progress in just a few short weeks. The feedback from the swimming instructors has been very positive. If you still haven’t paid for swimming please do so as soon as possible.
Library Visit
The children in Juniors to Second class had a very enjoyable and entertaining visit to Ashbourne Library last Friday. Gerry Daly was the author giving the presentation to the children which according to the teachers present was excellent. Fifth and Sixth class visited Navan Library today. Nicola Pierce was the author giving the presentation.
Book Fair
Our annual Book Fair will take place this year in early March instead of November.
Halloween Fancy Dress/ Pumpkin Competition
Our annual Halloween Fancy Dress and Pumpkin Competition takes place in school on Friday 27th October. On that day the children may come to school dressed up in any costume they like. The children who wish to take part in the Pumpkin Competition can design a pumpkin at home with assistance from parents/guardians in carving out the pumpkin. Pumpkins can be brought into school on the morning of Friday 27th and kept in the school hall. Parents/guardians will have to help their children bring the pumpkins to the hall as they may be heavy. The pumpkin competition brings great excitement to the school. In a time of mobile phones, gaming, T.V’s etc I think it’s important that these Halloween traditions are left in our school as you can’t put a price on the memories they create.
