A Thuisti,

Girls’ Gaelic Football Semi-Final

This is a big week for our girls’ gaelic football team. After losing in last year’s semi-final we are hoping they can make the final this year. They play Cortown this Thursday in Trim at 1.45p.m.   We will be leaving the school at 1.00p.m. We will need help with lifts. Please organise al lift for your child if you can’t go to the match yourself. Best of  Luck girls.

Hurling Training

All classes will have hurling training for the next few weeks. We are lucky to have acquired the services of a hurling coach from Kilmessan Hurling Club. Over the next few weeks the children will learn the basics of hurling and we hope they enjoy the lessons.

Science

I will be attending an induction and training evening for the ‘Science in a Box’ activity based science programme that we will be introducing to Fifth and Sixth classes between now and Christmas. This should be interesting and challenging for the children. A big thanks to Eimear for organising this for the school.

Self-Evaluation of Science

We are currently doing a School Self-Evaluation of Science in our school. Please find attached the Parental Questionnaire and please return by Wednesday November 7th.

Computer Room

Our new computer room is up and running. It is equipped with seventeen computers and a printer. The children will have plenty of opportunity during the course of the year to visit the computer room to complete projects and to improve their I.T. Skills. Over the next few weeks all children will have I.T. lessons with Colm. The cost for four lessons will be €5.00 per child. Please send in money in an envelope as soon as possible.

‘Determined for Dylan’

During the Halloween break Katie (Senior Infants) got her hair cut for the first time to raise money for Dylan. The amount raised so far is €760. The target is €1000. If you would like to donate to this worthy cause please send in money in an envelope to the school this week.

Music – Tin Whistle

Pupils in First and Second will be starting to learn the Tin Whistle this week. If you haven’t already sent in €16 for Tin Whistle and Book. Please send in money in an envelope tomorrow.

Head Lice

A parent has reported head lice in her child’s hair. Please check your child’s hair this evening and treat if necessary.
