7th January, 2013.
A Thuisti,
Welcome back everyone. I hope everyone had a happy, enjoyable and peaceful Christmas. I would like to wish everyone in the Rathfeigh school community a happy and successful 2013.
We are nearly half way through the school year and all the children are progressing really well. Please continue to maintain an active role in your child’s education at home. Encouragement and praise goes a long way in motivating your child to do their best. A homework routine, without distractions, should be established straight away after Christmas. Please check your child’s homework for neat presentation and sign their school journal on a nightly basis.
Please continue encouraging your child to use a few phrases in ‘Gaeilge’ every day. This will improve their confidence in speaking the language and will hopefully result in a more positive attitude towards Irish. The children should also be encouraged to use mathematical websites (e.g. mathsisfun.com, mangahigh.com) which have the curriculum content for each class. These websites are educational, challenging and interesting. If anyone comes across other interesting websites please let me know.
Mr. Keith Kelly starts on Tuesday 15th January as a shared Learning Support Teacher with St. Pauls N.S. Ratoath. He will be teaching two days a week (Tuesdays and Thursdays) .We wish him success in his time in Rathfeigh N.S.
Swimming starts for first, second and third classes this Wednesday (January 9th) for five weeks. We will need seven or eight parents to travel to the swimming lessons (unfortunately there will not be space to travel on bus). The cost of the swimming lessons is €25.00. A big thanks to the Parents’ Association for their large contribution towards the cost of buses. Please return the slip below if you are available to help with supervision.
We hope to start the ‘Lift Off ’ to Literacy reading programme with second class pupils in late January and with senior infants after Easter.
The next Board of Management meeting is Wednesday January 23rd.
Is mise,
Seamus Tansley.
