A Thuisti,

The Literacy Lift Off has come to an end for first class pupils. Each pupil is being tested again to compare their performance in reading and writing before/after the intervention. We are delighted to report, that within a short period of time substantial improvement has been achieved by all pupils. I would like to invite the parents of First Class pupils to view the test results, on Thursday (December 20th) at 1.50p.m. Teachers from the ‘Lift Off ’ programme will be available to discuss the results with parents. I would like to thank Mrs. McAuley, Mrs. Long, Ms. Higgins, Ms. Gerard and Teresa Mangan for their expertise and hard work during this programme. Many thanks, also to the parents who helped out in the covering of books and to the Parents Association for their huge contribution towards the purchase of books. Because of the great results achieved through the Literacy Lift Off programme we are hoping to introduce the programme to second class pupils in January.

Our Christmas Concert takes place this Wednesday (December 19th) in the school hall at 7.00p.m. We ask the children to be seated at 6.45p.m.

There is a full dress rehearsal tomorrow (Tuesday 18th). The children should bring in their costumes to change into at school. Please practise the following Christmas songs tonight (Silent Night, Away in a Manger, We wish you a Merry Christmas and Jingle Bells.)

The school closes at 12.00 on Friday (December 21st) for Christmas holidays. There is a school bus. The school re-opens on Monday January 7th.

I would like to wish everyone a happy and safe Christmas.

Is mise,

Seamus Tansley.
