A Thuisti,
To celebrate St. Patrick’s Day we are having a ceilí in the school hall for the children this Thursday March 13th. It is a non-uniform day and the children should wear something green on the day. It promises to be an exciting day and we are all looking forward to it. The school will close at 1.40p.m.for all classes on Thursday and will re-open at 9.00a.m. on Tuesday March 18th. Please note there is a school bus on Thursday. We wish everyone an enjoyable and safe St. Patrick’s weekend.
Last Tuesday was Shrove Tuesday. The sixth class pupils did a fantastic job in making pancakes for all the pupils and teachers and they deserve great credit. We want to thank Fionnuala Lenehan and Susan Keogh for supervising the children throughout the morning. Photos of the sixth class children making the pancakes as well as children in some classes eating the pancakes are on the school website.
Last Tuesday was World Book Day. The children in the senior classes read stories to the children in the junior classes. It was an enjoyable and worthwhile exercise. All children received a World Book Day voucher which can be used in participating bookshops. Pictures of the sixth class pupils reading to Junior and Senior Infant pupils will be on the school website this week.
There is Confirmation practice for 6th class pupils next Tuesday 18th March from 1.30p.m. to 2.30p.m. We will be leaving the school at 1.20p.m.
The Boys’ 7-a-side Gaelic football team had three great victories against Kilmessan, Coole and Gaelscoil na Rithe last week. They missed out on making the finals by conceding a last minute goal to Skryne. They played their hearts out and we were very proud of their efforts.
The Girls’ 7-a-side Gaelic football team also missed out on making the finals. Despite missing a few players they had a great victory over Gaelscoil na Rithe. We were very proud of their efforts.
The Voluntary Contribution of €70.00 can be paid in cash, cheque or standing order.
Shay Casserly will be doing a dvd of the Confirmation. If you wish to order a copy please send in €15.00 in an envelope to the office.
There is a Board of Management meeting in the school on Tuesday March 18th.
Is mise,
Seamus Tansley.
