A Thuisti,
Welcome Back
Welcome Back. We are delighted to see everyone back fit and well after the summer holidays. It was great to see our new Junior Infants starting today. We wish them and their parents/guardians the best of luck for the year ahead. No two children are the same and all the new Juniors will settle in their own good time! If you have any concerns about your child settling please contact Mrs Vaughan. The Junior Infants will go home today and tomorrow at 12 noon. From Monday September 3rd they will go home at 1.40p.m.
New Beginnings
We have a lot of new changes as a result of the retirements of Mrs Mc Auley and Mrs Long in June. I am delighted to have two new teachers starting today Ms. Reynolds and Ms McEntee. Ms Reynolds has joined the staff on a permanent basis and Ms. Mc Entee will be teaching this school year while Ms. O Donoghue in on career break. We welcome them both to Rathfeigh and hope they enjoy their time here. Mrs Vaughan starts her new role as Deputy Principal today and Mrs Campbell starts today as Learning Support Teacher. I wish them success and happiness in their new roles also.
Book Rental Scheme
Most children had their new books collected last week by their parents/guardians. Every year Bridget Copeland has the books bought, covered and labelled for the start of the new school year. This is a huge undertaking and I think I can speak for everyone in thanking Bridget for doing a fantastic job once again this year. Our Parents’ Association play a huge part in the school and we hope that more people get involved in the Association this year. An active, vibrant Parents’ Association is vital and the more people who get involved the better it is for the school!
Healthy Lunch
We have a healthy lunch policy in the school. The children aren’t allowed sweets, fizzy drinks, chewing gum etc. We are a ‘Nut Free’ school as some pupils have life-threatening allergies to nuts. Our Administration of Medicines Policy is on the school website. A hard copy can be obtained from the office.
Parental Permission Form
We ask parents/guardians at the start of each year for their permission for the children to participate in certain activities. Please read the Parental Permission Form and tick the relevant boxes and return the form to us by Monday September 3rd.
School Opening
The door to the school hall opens at 8.50a.m. The Board of Management accepts no responsibility for children on the school premises before 8.50a.m. Under no circumstances should parents/guardians leave the school until the door to the hall is opened. If your child arrives to school after 9.00a.m. then you must ‘sign in’ your child at reception in the ‘Sign In/Sign Out’ Book. Our secretary, Helen, is not in the office on Fridays.
