A Thuisti,

Secondary Schools

This is an important year for sixth class pupils as they will be deciding which secondary school they will be going to next year. Parents/guardians should contact the secondary schools in the area that their children might be attending next year so as to get information about open-nights and application dates. I strongly advise all parents/guardians to contact the secondary schools immediately as many secondary schools do not contact us with this information. Many open nights take place as early as September or October. If we receive information from secondary schools about open nights we will pass it on to parents/guardians. The school, however, doesn’t contact schools for this information.

Gaelic Football

Our boys’ and girls’ football teams enjoyed victories in their first games last week. In both games the children represented the school and their families really well playing the game with smiles on their faces and showing respect to the opposition. Winning the games was just a bonus.

Weather permitting our boys’ team are playing tomorrow (19th) in Skryne at 1.30p.m. (against Rathregan) – leaving the school at 1.p.m.

Our girls’ team are playing in Dunsany on Thursday (21st) at 2.p.m. – leaving the school at 1.30p.m. On both days we will need help with lifts. Please arrange a lift for your child if you can’t attend yourself.

Swimming

Swimming for 3rd – 6th class in Navan Swimming Pool continues on Tuesday. Swimming, Art & Craft, Insurance and Homework Journal can be paid online or if you wish you can send in cash in an envelope with your child’s name on it.

H.S.E. Immunisation

The H.S.E. vaccination team will visit the school on October 23rd to give the Junior Infants

their Booster 4 in 1 vaccination. Every Junior infant will bring home the consent form today.

We ask all parents/guardians to complete the form (even if they are not consenting) and return it to the school by Friday September 22nd.

Speech & Drama

Kate Forde was in the school today and she brought each class down to the hall for a taster session of her Speech & Drama class. Kate’s classes begin tomorrow 1.40p.m. – 2.40p.m. Junior/Senior Infants and 2.40p.m. – 3.40p.m. 1st – 6th class. Attached is Kate’s flyer with contact details and prices etc. If you wish to enrol your child/children for Speech & Drama please contact Kate.

Is mise,

Seamus Tansley.
