A Thuisti,

Literacy Lift Off

Literacy Lift Off starts next week for pupils in second class. It will last for 5/6 weeks. The children will be getting books to read on a nightly basis. We strongly advise that you read these books with your children nightly.

Frása na Seachtaine

Over the course of the year we will have a ‘Frása na Seachtaine’ (phrase of the week) which the children in all classes should be encouraged to use at home. This week’s ‘Frása na Seachtaine’ is ‘Tá ocras orm’ (I’m hungry) and ‘Tá tart orm’ (I’m thirsty).

Amber Flag

Ms. Ward will be introducing the Pieta House Amber Flag initiative to our school over the course of this school year. This initiative aims to create healthy inclusive environments that support mental wellbeing. To be awarded the Pieta House Amber Flag, we must host a mental health awareness event, a fundraiser and a mental health initiative. The programme encourages team work and pupil contributions. We will give more information on the Amber Flag over the next few weeks.

Art & Craft/Insurance

If you haven’t paid €25.00 per child for Art & Craft and €8.00 per child for insurance please do so this week. Please send in the money in an envelope by Friday 13th September.

Gaelic Football

Our boys gaelic football team are playing their first match tomorrow in Skryne at 2.15p.m. (against Dunsany). We will be leaving the school at 1.50p.m. and will need help with lifts.

Our girls football team are playing on Thursday in Mount Hanover at 2.00p.m. We will be leaving the school at 1.20p.m. and will need help with lifts.

We wish both our teams the best of luck this year.

Jersey Day

With the All – Ireland gaelic football final taking place this Saturday we will have another Jersey Day this Friday. We will have some fun activities on the field or hall on Friday.

Gaelic Training

Teresa Mangan has kindly volunteered to train all the pupils in all classes on Wednesdays for the next few weeks. The children in 3rd to 6th should bring a change of footwear/socks as training may take place on the field.

School Closure

The school will be closed on Friday November 29th to facilitate a staff in-service day in Navan Education Centre on the New Primary Language Curriculum.

Is mise,

Seamus Tansley.
