A Thuisti,

Céilí

We are delighted to have our St. Patrick’s Day céilí in the school this Wednesday. Our last céilí was in 2019 so the children are eager to get their dancing shoes back on! We are asking the children to wear the Irish colours on Wednesday. Healthy lunches are optional (NUT FREE please).

The children have been keen practicing a variety of dances over the last week or so and we thank Mrs Vaughan for preparing the dances for the children. We are inviting the children in any class to play a musical instrument, perform a dance etc during our céilí on Wednesday. The more that perform the better! They will get plenty of encouragement from all the other children in the school and it will be great for their confidence.

School Closure

The school will close at 1.40p.m. for ALL pupils on Wednesday. There is no school bus on Wednesday at 1.40p.m.

The school will be closed on 17th, 18th and 21st of March. We hope to see everyone back in school on Tuesday March 22nd.

Girls’ 7-a-side Football

Our Girls’ 7-a-side team are playing in the Gaelic football blitz this Wednesday in Skryne. Ms. Reynolds has named the ten girls from 4th to 6th class that will be participating. They will be leaving the school at 12.40p.m. Gum shields are compulsory. Please organise a lift for your child if you can’t go to the game yourself.

Boys’ 7-a-side Football

Our Boys’ 7-a-side team are taking part in the Cumann na mBunscol competition today and we wish them luck and hopefully they’ll enjoy the experience.

Orienteering

The children in 3rd and 6th classes had their first experience of orienteering in Balrath Wood last week. They thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The combination of running and map reading was challenging but the children rose to the challenges. We thank Kathryn Walley for setting up the course for us in Balrath. The children did the course in pairs. Congratulations to Luke and Ruadhán (6th) and Lucy and Stevie (4th) who had the quickest times and won Easter Eggs.

Attendance

As I mentioned in last week’s letter parents/guardians must send in Absence Notes if their children are absent from school. All absences are recorded on the Aladdin computer system.

Computer Classes

Colm is returning tomorrow for the first of four computer lessons. The cost per pupil is €7.00. Please send in the money in an envelope before Wednesday.

Confession

Congratulations to our Second class pupils on receiving the sacrament of First Confession last week. Thanks to Ms. O’ Donoghue for preparing the children so well.

We wish everyone an enjoyable St. Patrick’s weekend. Hope everyone enjoys the break and we hope to see everyone back in school on Tuesday.

Is mise,

Seamus Tansley.
