A Thuisti,
International Women’s Day 2022
International Women’s Day 2022 takes place tomorrow (8th March). The theme for this year’s event is ‘Break the Bias’ It focuses on the need to tackle bias, stereotypes and discrimination, seeking to create a world that is diverse, equitable and inclusive. We will be celebrating the event over the course of the week and we hope to do lessons on the topic in school and for homework. We have great women leaders and inspirational women throughout the world and some of their quotes may inspire us and the children to live our lives in an equitable manner.
Coco Chanel
“A girl should be two things – who and what she wants”
Nancy Pelosio
“ Women are leaders everywhere we look from the CEO who runs a Fortune 500 Company to the housewife who raises here children and leads her household – Our country was built by strong women, and we will continue to break down walls and defy stereotypes”
Sheryh Sandberg
“ In the future there will be no Female leaders. There will be just leaders”

A strong woman knows she has the strength enough for the journey, but a woman of strength knows it is in the journey where she will become strong.”

Statement of Strategy of School Attendance
Regular attendance has a positive impact on teaching and learning. Children learn effectively when they attend school regularly. We understand that this year has been challenging for many families in relation to school attendance due to Covid-19. When a child is absent the parent/guardian must inform the class teacher by means of an Absence Note and explain the reason for the absence. The Absence Note is in the school journal and on the school website. All absences, and the reason for absence, are inputted on the Aladdin computer system (e.g. Illness, holiday, etc).
Computers
Colm will be starting computer lessons for all classes next week. The cost is €7.00 for four lessons.
