A Thuistí,
Parents/Guardians to Board of Management
I will be in attendance tonight with the New Chairperson of the Board of Management, Maura Kennedy, to elect parents/guardians nominees to the Board of Management. The meeting ta kes place at 7.30p.m. sharp in the school. If you wish to be nominated you must be in attendance at the meeting. If you want to vote you must also be in attendance tonight. We look forward to seeing a large turnout at the meeting.
Swimming
Swimming starts tomorrow for pupils in Fourth, Fifth and Sixth classes. We are leaving the school at 12.20p.m. and will be returning at 2.20p.m. The cost including bus, is €35 per pupil (for 5 weeks). Please send in the money in an envelope as soon as possible.
Pancake Tuesday/Amber Flag Initiative
Tomorrow is Pancake Tuesday in conjunction with our ‘Amber Flag’ mental health initiative. The pupils in Sixth class with help from parents/guardians in sixth class will be making pancakes for all pupils. As we are a ‘Nut Free’ school all pancakes and toppings must not contain traces of nuts as a number of pupils in our school have life threatening allergies to nuts.
Please let the class teacher know if your child is not to get a pancake tomorrow.
We need a number of parents/guardians from sixth class to assist the sixth class pupils. Proceeds from Pancake Tuesday (€2 per pupil) will be given to Pieta House. Thanks to Ms. Ward for co-ordinating our Amber Flag Initiative.
Science in a Box
Science-in-a- Box started last week for pupils in Fifth and Sixth classes. The lessons will focus on Biology this year. We are delighted that Eimear has, once again, sponsored this initiative this year. The children in Fifth and Sixth classes greatly benefited from this programme last year and we hope that this year will have similar results.
Badminton
The children in Sixth class are playing in a badminton blitz in Baldoyle on Wednesday March 4th. We are going to Baldoyle by bus leaving the school at 9.00a.m. but will need parents/guardians to bring the children home. The cost of the bus is €10.00 per pupil. Please send in money in an envelope as soon as possible.
St. Patricks’ Day Ceilí
Our annual Céilí will take place in the school hall on Friday 13th March from 12.30p.m. to 1.30p.m. It will be a non-uniform day and we hope the children will wear a combination of green, white and orange colours. We would like to invite parents/guardians to the hall to see the céilí and hopefully join in!
The school will close for all pupils at 1.30p.m. on Friday 13th.
Is mise,
Seamus Tansley.
