A Thuisti,

Confirmation

This Thursday our sixth class pupils will receive their Confirmation in Skryne Church at 11.00a.m. We wish them all and their families an enjoyable and spiritual day. There is a practice tomorrow in Skryne Church at 1.30p.m. We will be leaving the school at 1.20p.m. and returning at 2.20p.m. Please organise a lift for your child if you can’t go yourself. The children must be ‘signed out’ at reception before leaving for the church.

The children will be getting their confirmation class photograph taken in school on Monday 14th. The children should wear their Confirmation clothes to school on that day and bring their tracksuit to change into after the photograph.

Safer Internet Day

Tomorrow is Safer Internet Day. This year’s theme is ‘Together for a better internet’ We must always continue to strive to make the internet a safe and better place for our children. People of all ages use the internet daily and it provides us with great opportunities to learn, create and connect. With this comes challenges. So Safer Internet Day can be a starting point for families to have regular discussions about life online. Webwise.ie have a #TalkListenLearn Campaign for parents/guardians and it is well worth logging into. During the week we will be discussing the great benefits of the internet but always being mindful of the potential risks while being online.

Bookmark Competition

Last week the children in First to Sixth class took part in the Meath County Council World Book Day Bookmark competition in school. We picked the top three in each class and the following pupils will get a small prize this week. Sadhbh, Nevaeh, Noah, Ella, Aoibhinn, Sophie, Katie, Nicola, Jessica, Faye, William, Stevie, Thomas, Ava, Eoin, Brooke, Ruadhán and Katelin. The top five entries from the school were sent forward to the Meath County Council – Brooke, Faye, Ava, Ruadhán and Eoin. We wish them the best of luck in this competition.

Mindfulness

Last week’s Mindfulness Zoom session with Una Curran was very well attended and the feedback from parents/guardians was very positive. I’m sure everyone who logged onto the session got something positive from it which will, hopefully, benefit them and their children. We thank Una for giving of her time to deliver the session and to the Board of Management for sponsoring it.

Literacy

The children in First and second classes have been receiving books on a weekly basis from Mrs. Campbell. Please encourage your child to read to you on a daily basis. Children love positive feedback so please give them plenty of encouragement and praise while they progress through their new books!

Mid-Term Break

The school will be closed on February 24th and February 25th for the mid-term break.

Public Holiday

Friday March 18th is a public holiday as announced by the government a few weeks ago. We were due to be closed on this date as per our school calendar. As a result we will be taking Monday 21st off in lieu of this date as agreed by the Board of Management. The school will now be closed on March 17th, 18, and 21st.

Is mise,

Seamus Tansley.
