A Thuisti,
This week is Friendship Week in our school. Forming, developing and sustaining friendships is an important part of a child’s life. School is a happier place for children when they have friends. Friendships help children to grow and develop their self-confidence. If you feel your child is not making friendships in school or is being excluded from games please let the class teacher know immediately. We will have an assembly on Friday to celebrate Friendship Week. At the assembly we will be re-inforcing the importance of friendships, including everyone in games and having respect for everyone in the school.
The door to the school opens every morning at 8.50a.m. No responsibility is accepted for pupils arriving before that time. All children should be in their class lines in the school hall no later than 9.00a.m. Parents who arrive with their children after 9.00a.m. must sign their children in at reception in the ‘Sign In/Sign Out’ Book. Children arriving to school late consistently is very disruptive.
The cost per pupil this year for Art & Craft is €20.00. Please send in money in an envelope with your child’s name on it.
School Insurance The school, like every other school in Ireland, does not carry Personal Accident Insurance. So if your child were to trip in the yard and fall he would not be covered for any ensuing injuries. The school does however carry Public Liability Insurance. Under this insurance a child’s injuries could be covered if, through legal process, it could be proven that the accident happened through culpable negligence on the part of the school. As it is unlikely that injuries will be compensated through the above, Allianz each year offers to parents a Personal Accident Policy cost €8.00 which provides medical insurance to cover all accidents 24 hours a day. We ask all families to take out this cover. Payment can be made to the school when you are paying for arts and crafts. Please put money in an envelope and mark child’s name, class and amount on outside one envelope per family is sufficient. (An application form is attached with further information which doesn’t need to be returned with payment).
Due to the success of the Zumba Dancing last year the Parents’Association have organised the Zumba Dancing teacher to come for 7 weeks starting on September 14th. The cost is €10.00 per child. This will take place during school hours for all children as part of the P.E. Curriculum.
We notice today that a significant number of pupils are not wearing the correct school uniform. Please ensure that your chid wears the correct uniform to school each day.
Is mise,
Seamus Tansley.
