A Thuisti,

As we start our second full week back in school we are delighted that the new junior infants have settled in really well. The Juniors will now go home at 1.40p.m.

School Insurance The school, like every other school in Ireland, does not carry Personal Accident Insurance. So if your child were to trip in the yard and fall he would not be covered for any ensuing injuries. The school does however carry Public Liability Insurance. Under this insurance a child’s injuries could be covered if, through legal process, it could be proven that the accident happened through culpable negligence on the part of the school. As it is unlikely that injuries will be compensated through the above, Allianz each year offers to parents a Personal Accident Policy cost  €8.00 which provides medical insurance to cover all accidents 24 hours a day. We ask all families to take out this cover. Payment can be made to the school when you are paying for arts and crafts. Please put money in an envelope and mark child’s name, class and amount on outside one envelope per family is sufficient. (An application form is attached with further information which doesn’t need to be returned with payment).

The cost per pupil this year for Art & Crafts is €20.00. Please send in money in an envelope with your child’s name and class on it.

Every Wednesday for 32 weeks (starting on September 16th ) The Irish Independent will have an educational supplement focussing mainly on Maths, Gaeilge, English and Science. These supplements will be very beneficial to children in fourth to sixth class. The cost per pupil is €8.00. The eldest child only in each family needs to get the Irish Independent. Please send in money in an envelope with your child’s name and class on it. ( Payment for Art & Crafts, Insurance and Irish Independent can be put in same envelope)

The Boys’ Gaelic Football team are playing in Ardcath tomorrow (Tuesday 8th). We will be leaving the school at 1.15p.m. and will need help with lifts.

The Girls’ Gaelic Football team are playing in Skryne Football pitch this Thursday at 1.20p.m. against Ardcath. They will be leaving the school at 1.00p.m. We will need help with lifts.

For Health and Safety reasons the Board of Management requests parents not to drop off their children before 8.50a.m. in the morning. Under no circumstances should parents leave the school before the door to the hall is opened.

All pupils will go home at 1.40p.m. on Wednesday September 16th to facilitate a staff meeting. Please note there is no school bus.

We have Credit Union in the school this Friday. Application forms are available from the school office and pupils from Junior Infants to Sixth Class may join. New members welcome.

All classes have gaelic football coaching on Tuesdays during school. Children must wear their tracksuits on these days. This will form part of the P.E. Curriculum.

Fourth, Fifth and Sixth classes have tag rugby coaching on Wednesdays during school. There will be a tag rugby blitz in Ashbourne on October 2nd for 5th and 6th classes only.

In order to update our records please return contact numbers slip to the school as soon as possible. We ask all parents/guardians to supply a contact name and number of whom to contact in an emergency if both parents/guardians are not at home or at work.

Circus Photography will visit the school on Wednesday September 16th to take Junior Infant individual and class group photograph. They will also be able to take photographs of children in other classes. Please return forms to the office by Thursday 10th September.

Reminder If you haven’t returned the Permission Slip sent home last week please send it into the office tomorrow.

Is mise,
Seamus Tansley.
