A Thuisti,
Punctuality
The door to the school hall opens at 8.50a.m. The Board of Management does not accept responsibility for children being on the school grounds before 8.50a.m. All children should be in their class lines in the hall before 9.00a.m. Arriving late to class is very disruptive.
Parents/Guardians should ensure that their children are in the school building before leaving the school when dropping their children off in the morning.
Child Protection
The school’s Child Safeguarding Statement and Risk Assessment are on the school website. All parents/guardians should be aware of its content. A hard copy is available on request from the office. The Designated Liaison Person is Seamus Tansley and the Deputy Designated Liaison Person is Jackie Vaughan.
Gaeilge
This week’s Briathar na Seachtaine is ‘Faigh’ ( to get ) e.g. Faigh an bainne más é do thoil é (Get the milk please ).
Computers
Computer classes will continue for three more weeks. The cost is €5.00 per pupil. Please send in money in an envelope this week.
Online Safety/Smartphones
Many children have smartphones etc. The management of these devices is extremely important. Spending too much time online is not good for adults or children. Communicating with your child regularly about the time they are spending online is very important. Confiscating phones etc can be counterproductive. It might be helpful to designate a certain amount of time daily for being online e.g. 20 – 30 minutes. Children should then be encouraged to do other activities with family and friends. As parents/guardians it is our responsibility to regularly check the online activity of our children. Safety settings should be regularly viewed but even this may not be 100% secure.
Teacher Training
Ms. Keegan will be doing Teacher Training Practice in 5th/6th class for the next five weeks. She will be teaching three lessons daily.
Credit Union
Credit Union in the school re-commences this Friday in the school.
Is mise,
Seamus Tansley.
