Parents/Guardians/ Teacher Meetings
Parent/Guardian/Teacher meetings takes place next week on Thursday 21st and Friday 22nd from 1.30p.m. to 3.45p.m. Please indicate a suitable day and time and we will try to accommodate you if possible. Please return the slip below by Wednesday 13th. If these days don’t suit you please contact the class teachers to arrange a suitable day/time. Later in the week when we have all the’slips’ back the children will be given the day/time of their parent/teacher meeting and they will write it in their school journal. Please check your child’s journal. The school will close at 1.15p.m. for all pupils on both days. ( There will be no school bus on Thursday and Friday at 1.15p.m.
Girls Semi Final
Our girls’ gaelic football team are playing Kiltale tomorrow in Kilmessan National School. We wish them the best of luck as they try to make the final for a second successive year.
Our boys’ gaelic football team lost narrowly in the semi-finals last Friday. They fought gallantly to the very end. They were exceptionally sporting in defeat which was great to see. Well done boys.
Credit Union Art Competition
The children in First to Sixth classes took part in the Credit Union art competition before Halloween. The entries were of a very high standard and all children got their drawings returned to them on Friday with nice individual messages attached. The following pupils won prizes – Kal-El, Leila, Archie, Saoirse, Gracie and Freddy. (Kal-El, Archie and Gracie are through to the next round).
Science Week
We are celebrating Science Week this week. All classes will be given opportunities to do science activities/experiments at school and at home during the week. If any parent/guardian has any interesting science experiments or resources please let us know.
Book Fair
Our annual Book Fair generates great excitement each year. The Book Fair is coming on Tuesday and the children will be given an opportunity during school on Tuesday to look at the books. Parents/Guardians are invited to visit the Book Fair on the following days and times. Wednesday, Thursday and Friday (8.45a.m. to 9.00a.m.) (1.20p.m. to 2.00p.m.) and 2.20p.m. to 3.00p.m. Parents/guardians only can buy books before school starts. During the school day all classes will visit the Book Fair. All children who have money for books can buy or order books during school. The school receives commission from the sale of books which will be spent on books for the class or school library.
Newgrange Trip
Third and Fourth class will be visiting Newgrange this Thursday. We will be leaving the school by bus at 9.30a.m. and returning at 12.30 approximately. The cost of the bus is €5.00 per child. Please send in the money in an envelope as soon as possible.
Trip to the National Botanic Gardens
First and Second class pupils will visit the Botanic Gardens this week. We will be leaving the school by bus at 9.00a.m. and returning at 1.15p.m. approximately. The cost of the bus is €10.00 per child. Please send in money in an envelope as soon as possible.
Gaeilge Day
Tomorrow is Gaeilge Day. We will be encouraging the children to speak Irish , as best they can, over the course of the day. Please make an effort with your child to speak the ‘Frasaí na Seachtaine’ that were in the weekly newsletter since September. Go raibh maith agat!
‘Inclusion’ Art Competition
Congratulations to Hannah (6th) who won a €50 voucher for coming second place in the ‘Inclusion’ art competition. Her artwork was fabulous and clearly demonstrated her understanding of ‘Inclusion’ in society.
