A Thuisti,
Welcome back everyone after the summer holidays. I hope everyone enjoyed the holidays and are ready for the year ahead. The new Junior Infants started today and we are confident that they will settle into their new surroundings quickly. Junior Infants will go home at 12 noon up to and including Friday 4th September. From Monday 7th September the Juniors will go home at 1.40p.m.
We would like to thank the Parents’ Association, and in particular Bridget Copeland, for having all the childrens’ books ready for the year ahead. It is a huge job each year and we thank them for making the Book Rental Scheme so successful. We ask the children to be extra careful with their books as they need to be passed on in good condition.
At the start of each year we ask all parents for their permission for their children to participate in certain activities. Please read the Parental Permission Form and tick the relevant boxes and return the form to us by Wednesday 2nd September.
The children have a new school journal this year. It is more educational and colourful and we think the children will enjoy using it. Journals will be given out on Monday. The school calendar can be found on the school website (www.rathfeighns.org).
If you have any concern about any aspect of your child’s schooling please make an appointment to see the class teacher. Parents must sign their child’s journal daily when homework is completed and check also for notes. The notes can also be found on the school website.
We have a healthy lunch policy in the school. Children are not allowed sweets, crisps, fizzy drinks, chewing gum etc. except on certain occasions. I would like to remind parents that our school is a ‘ Nut-Free’ school due to pupils in the school having life-threatening allergies to nuts. We are asking for your help in minimising the risk by:
(a )Avoiding giving children any nuts in school lunches.
(b) Avoiding giving peanut butter sandwiches and spreads containing nuts such as Nutella etc.
(c) Asking children not to share lunches.
(d) Washing your child’s hands and faces thoroughly before coming to school.
We thank you for your co-operation.
Important Dates: Parent Teacher Meetings December 3rd and 4th 1.30p.m. to 4.00p.m.
