5th January, 2015.
A Thuisti,
Welcome back everyone after the Christmas holidays. I hope everyone had an enjoyable and relaxing Christmas. As we start back in school at the start of 2015 it is important that a homework routine is established for the children. Please check your child’s homework and sign their journal on a nightly basis. If you would like to discuss any aspect of your child’s education please make an appointment with the class teacher.
Swimming starts for First, Third and Fourth classes for six weeks this Wednesday (January 7th), and also 14th ,21st and 28th January. The last two lessons will be on Monday the 2nd and 9th of February . We will need seven or eight parents of first class children to travel to the swimming lessons to help the younger children with the drying of hair etc. The cost of swimming lessons (including bus) is €45.00 per pupil. The bus will be leaving the school at 12.25p.m. and returning to the school at 2.30p.m.
All the children will have tag rugby coaching in the school on Tuesdays until further notice. This will form part of the P.E. Curriculum. All children must wear their tracksuits and runners on these days.
On Thursday January 15th M & M Theatrical Productions will be performing “Jack and the Beanstalk” in the school hall for the children. The performance starts at 1.15p.m. and finishes at 2.30p.m. As a result all children will be going home at 2.40p.m. The cost per pupil is €6.00. Please send in the money in an envelope.
I would like to remind parents that standardised tests in English and Maths for all pupils in First to Sixth classes will take place from Monday May 25th to Friday May 29th. All children must be in attendance for these tests.
Reminder: Speech & Drama classes resume tomorrow Tuesday 6th January.
I would like to wish everyone in the Rathfeigh school community a happy, safe and successful 2015.
Is mise,
Seamus Tansley.
