A Thuisti,

€1000 Prize

We are delighted to hear during the week that Skryne Gaelic Football Club had won €25,000 as part of a Kellogg’s Cúl Camps Prize. We were even more delighted when Senan Mc Grath announced that Rathfeigh N.S. will be receiving €1000 from Skryne GFC to put towards sporting equipment and supplies. This will be invaluable for our school. We look forward to hearing great ideas from the children, parents/guardians and teachers on how to best use this money. We have a proud tradition of sports in Rathfeigh for many, many years with the boys and girls always proud to wear the Green and White jerseys of Rathfeigh. The last few years have been very memorable for our teams and we’ll always remember 2017 when the elusive double of winning the football and rounders competitions was achieved by the boys. We always encourage participation in sports in Rathfeigh. The benefits of participation in sports is well documented but even more so in the current pandemic. Gaelic and rugby coaching continues during school on Mondays and Tuesdays.

Internet and Technology Safety

Internet Technology Safety is paramount for all who have children. Children are using electronic devices and the internet more than ever. This was particularly the case when the schools closed on March 12th. Many parents would have seen an increase in their children’s technology use. We can’t, however, as parents/guardians let our guard down in relation to ‘safety’. Are we monitoring our children’s technology usage? Do we know what they are watching? If not then possibly it’s time to re-evaluate your child’s technology usage. Zeeko.ie provides resources for parents/guardians to empower their children with the tools to protect themselves online e.g. setting safety settings, protecting against cyberbullying and stranger danger, safeguarding against inappropriate content etc. It might also be worth looking at our school website under ‘Links’ with good information on Internet Safety and Cyberbullying. Unfortunately, issues regarding technology and internet safety are likely to continue rising. It’s up to us as parents/guardians to put measures in place to safeguard our children’s safety online. Technology is continually changing and we must keep up with these changes in order to protect our children!

Credit Union Art Competition

The children have been given A3 sheets and entry forms to complete the ‘Imagine More’ Credit Union Art Competition. The closing date is October 23rd but we will be  collecting the entries on October 20th as we will be picking a 1,2,3 in each class before posting them to the Credit Union.
