Dear Parents/Guardians,

Confirmation

We wish the pupils in 6th class, who are receiving their Confirmation tomorrow, a spiritual day with their families and friends. The Confirmation starts at 12 Noon. There will be refreshments in Skryne Hall after the ceremony. We thank our Parents’ Association for all their time and effort in organising refreshments/food.

The Confirmation Choir should be in the Church for 11.40am, pick-up from the school @ 11.35am and pick up from Church @ 1pm approx. Please arrange a lift for your child if you are unable to bring them.

Please see below from Mrs Kennedy:

“The Confirmation will start promptly at 12pm as the Bishop celebrates Confirmations in several parishes on one day and cannot be delayed. The children should be seated in the church by 11.45am.

The children have been designated a row each, they know their row and their row will have their name on it.

Children will need one of the booklets that will be given out in the church for responses.

Children who are planning to take the pledge and who have received pioneer pins are encouraged to wear them tomorrow.

Children with prayers/readings should remember their sheets, but I will have spares if needed.

The Bishop would like the sponsor or child to show him a sheet with the child’s Confirmation name on it, as sometimes he cannot hear the name over the music. I have these for each child. The sponsors must walk up behind the child, child kneels on the top step and sponsor stands behind them with their right hand on their right shoulder.

The Bishop usually asks the child why they picked their name or their sponsor.

Just a reminder to the children that they cannot leave their seats at the end of the ceremony to perform the final song until the Bishop has walked the full length of the aisle and has left the church. This is to ensure that he can get to the next parish quickly.

Finally, we hope you get a good night’s sleep and look forward to seeing you all in the morning”

Credit Union Quiz

Ada, James, Flora and Elliott participated in the Credit Union Chapter Final on Friday. Although they didn’t get through to the All-Ireland Final they performed really well and we are all very proud of their great efforts this year. Thanks to Mrs Vaughan for preparing the children for the quiz again this year.

First Confession

The children in 2nd class will be receiving their First Confession in Rathfeigh Church this Thursday (12th) at 7pm. There is a practice on Thursday morning from 9.30am to 10.15am & leaving the school @ 9.25am. Please arrange a lift for your child if you can’t attend yourself.

Swimming

Swimming continues for the children in 1st-4th class this Friday.

St. Patrick’s Day Céilí

The children are invited to come to school this Friday 13th March dressed in the Irish colours. The children will be having a céilí in the school hall during the day. Healthy lunches are optional. The school closes at 1.40pm for all classes.

School Closures

The school will be closed on Monday (16th) and Tuesday (17th) for the St. Patrick’s weekend.

7-a-side Gaelic Football

The boys’ and girls’ 7-a-side Gaelic Football competitions take place in Dunganny on Friday 20th March. They will be going by bus. This cost of the bus is €12.50, this can be paid through Aladdin if you haven’t paid already.

Re-Turn

Thanks to everyone for continuing to bring in bottles/cans on a weekly basis for our ‘Re-turn’ initiative and to the families in 5th & 6th class who have returned the bottles to the ‘Re-turn’ centres and collected the cash for them. For the next few weeks the children in 4th class will be re-turning the bottles, their names will be picked out at random.
