A Thuisti,

Sixth class pupils will be making pancakes for all the children in the school tomorrow morning. We need a few parents tomorrow morning to help out between 9.15 and 11.00a.m. Please let the class teacher know if your child is not to get a pancake. We are a ‘Nut Free’ school. The Administration of Medicines Policy is on the school website.

Swimming starts on Thursday February 22nd for pupils in First, Second and Sixth classes. The cost for five lessons is €30.00 Please send in money in an envelope as soon as possible. The Swimming Policy is on the school website.
Vaccinations
MMR and 4 in 1 vaccinations for Junior Infant pupils will take place in the school on Tuesday 20th February. Please return completed forms to the office before Wednesday February 14th.
Part-Time Resource Teacher
Our part-time resource teacher Ms. O’Rourke will be teaching two days a week (Wednesdays/Thursdays) for four weeks starting on February 21st.
School Sign
We will be ordering the new school sign this week at a cost of €2000. A parent very generously has given €1000 towards the cost of this sign. If any parent/guardian would like to donate money for the sign please let me know.
We would like to thank David and Susan Keogh for purchasing bunting and an Irish Flag for the school.
Draughts
The pupils in 3rd and 4th classes had a knock-out draughts competition in school last week. At the end of a week of intense competition, Gracie was victorious after defeating Freddy in the final.
School Closures
The school is closed this Thursday (15th) and Friday (16th) for the mid-term break. The school is closed at 12 noon on Friday March 2nd so that the staff, Board of Management and parents/guardians can engage with the ‘Child Protection Procedures for Primary and Post Primary Schools 2017’ and produce a Child Safeguarding Statement as well as a Child Safeguarding Risk
Assessment. Everyone in the school community has a part to play in ensuring that our children are safe. Parents/guardians are invited to the school from 12 noon to 2.30p.m. on Friday March 2nd to assist us in preparing these documents.
RSE
We will be teaching the remaining RSE lessons in the coming weeks. If you would like to discuss any aspect of the RSE programme please contact the class teacher. Our RSE policy is on the school website.
School Attendance
The attendance rate in the school for January was 93.5%. This lower percentage was due to a large number of pupils suffering flu symptoms after Christmas.
Photographs
The Boys and Girls Rounders’ teams had photographs taken by Circus Photography a few weeks ago. Last week each pupil brought home a sheet with a code and information on how the photographs can be viewed on the website. Please contact Suzanne as soon as possible if you would like to order a team photo. If you wish to have Individual/Family photographs for First Communion / Confirmation taken by Circus Photography please contact Suzanne as soon as possible to book a time.
