A Thuisti,
Buddy Bench
Last year our Under 11 Quiz team were Meath Champions and got to the All Ireland Final. The school received €200 for this achievement. The staff have decided to put this money towards the purchase of a Buddy Bench for the front of the school. The Buddy Bench will be a place for the children to go when they want someone to talk to and we hope that it will foster friendships on the playground.
Homework Club
At the Parents’ Association A.G.M. in September I mentioned that we were looking into setting up a Homework Club after school. We will be trialing this for two weeks before Christmas (Week beginning December 4th and week beginning December 11th). Please find attached information on the Homework Club and please return the form in an envelope if interested.
Green Schools Committee
We have our first committee meeting last week. I was delighted with the input and enthusiasm from the children on the committee. They had great ideas and are determined to making our school ‘greener’. We will be focusing immediately on paper towel usage throughout the school. We will be surveying the current usage of towels in each class and then educating the children on how to reduce the usage whilst maintaining high hygiene standards. We will ensure that all classes have two bins – one for general waste and one for paper only. Over the next week or two we will be getting children in all classes to design posters for bins to inform pupils what material goes into each bin.
Student Council
There will be a student council meeting this week. I would ask the student council members to consult with their classmates prior to this meeting.
Photograph of School Events
Photographs of National Tree Day, Cake Sale, Halloween and Rounders are available to view on the ‘Gallery’ section of the school website. A big thanks to Kieran Hennessy for downloading them.
Hurling/Rugby Training
Hurling training during school continues this Tuesday for classes from First to Sixth. Rugby training continues this Thursday for classes Third to Sixth.
Badminton – Sixth Class
Sixth class pupils are going to The National Indoor Arena in Dublin on Wednesday December 6th. They are going by bus. The cost is €11.00. Please send in the money in an envelope as soon as possible.
Text a Parent App
A TextaParent App is available to download on I Phone and Android phones . If you download this App to your phone every time we send you a text it will reduce the cost for the school by 50%.
School Complaints Procedure
Our Complaints Procedure Policy is available to view on the school website. All parents/guardians should be aware of its content. A hard copy is also available from the office.
School Closure
The school is closed this Friday December 1st ( as per school calendar).
Is mise,
