The Girls’ Gaelic Football team are playing Dangan on Thursday 26th at 12.30p.m. in Skryne. We will be leaving the school at 12.15p.m. On both days we will need help with lifts and the children will return to school after the game.
Gaelic Football coaching for all classes will continue for the next two weeks during school.
We had a ‘gaeilge’ assembly last Friday in the hall. All classes recited poems on the theme ‘Mé Féin’. It was great to see all the children enjoying speaking Irish. Please encourage your children to use a few gaeilge phrases on a daily basis at home. The ‘gaeilge’ theme for the next three weeks is ‘Sa Bhaile’.
School closes for all children this Wednesday (September 25th at 1.40p.m. to facilitate a staff meeting.
Please note there is no school bus.
Ms. Campion will continue to teach Third & Fourth classes in Mrs Vaughan’s absence.
Each year children from first to sixth classes have swimming lessons in Navan swimming pool. Last year the Parents’ Association were able to contribute a large amount towards the cost of buses resulting in swimming lessons costing €25.00 per child for five lessons. Unfortunately, this year the Parents’ Association aren’t in a position to pay for the buses. This means that swimming lessons will now be approximately €45.00 for six lessons. This figure is based on all children going. If some children don’t go the cost per child will rise as the cost is determined by dividing the number of children into the cost of the bus plus the cost of the pool. I am very conscious that many families are under pressure financially and have no wish to increase that pressure especially on families which may have two or three children going swimming. With that in mind I would be very grateful if parents of children from first to sixth would fill in the form below and return it to the office in an envelope as soon as possible. If there is a positive response the swimming will go ahead this year. It would be a pity if it didn’t but we have to be mindful of the different circumstances which many people are now experiencing. All details will be treated with the strictest confidence.
On Thursday 26th September (during school hours) all children from fourth to sixth classes will take part in an ‘Introduction to Athletics’ given by Meath Sports Development Project. Children should wear their school tracksuit and runners on Thursday.
Reminder: Art & Craft €20.00, Insurance €8.00 and Irish Independent €7.00. If you haven’t already paid for the above please do so as soon as possible (in an envelope with child’s name and class on it).
Is mise,
Seamus Tansley.
