A Thuisti,

The Literacy Lift Off reading programme starts next week for second class and it will run for four weeks. The pupils have been pre-tested and we are confident that they will make great progress by Halloween.

Every Wednesday for 31 weeks (starting on September 17th) the Irish Independent will have an educational supplement focussing mainly on Gaeilge, Maths and English. These supplements will be very beneficial to children in third to sixth classes. The cost per pupil in these classes is €8.00. The eldest child in each family needs to get the Irish Independent. Please send in money in an envelope with your child’s name and class on it.

For health and safety reasons the Board of Management requests parents not to drop off their children before 8.50a.m. in the morning. Under no circumstances should parents leave the school before the door to the hall is opened.

The panel for the Boys’ Gaelic Football team was picked today. A few of the younger children in third and fourth classes didn’t make the panel but I would encourage them to continue training with us on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. The boys have their first game this Thursday (September 11th) in Dunderry. We will be leaving the school at 2.00p.m.. We will need help with lifts.

The Girls’ Football panel was also picked today. The girls play their first game tomorrow (Wednesday 10th) in Dangan Summerhill. They will be leaving the school at 2.00p.m.We will need help with lifts.

Gaelic Football coaching for all classes from Junior to Sixth classes takes place this Friday during school. It will continue on the next three Wednesdays (September 17th, 24th, and October 1st). This will form part of the P.E. curriculum. The children must wear their tracksuits on these days.

All pupils will go home at 1.40p.m. next Tuesday September 16th to facilitate a staff meeting. Please note there is no school bus.

There is a Board of Management meeting in the school on Thursday September 18th.

First Communion will take place on Saturday 9th May in Rathfeigh Church at 11.00a.m.

Reminder: Art & Craft (€20.00) and Insurance (€8.00). Please return Parental Permission Form and Contact Numbers Form to the office.

Is mise,
Seamus Tansley.

Priomh Oide.
