Dear Parents/Guardians,
Wear Red Day
This Friday 21st March is ‘Wear Red Day’ for the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination. ‘Wear Red Day’ is an initiative to raise awareness about the challenges faced by ethnic minorities and the importance of unity and acceptance. To celebrate ‘Wear Red Day’ we are inviting the children to wear something red to school on Friday – jumper, jersey, shirt etc. If your child doesn’t have something ‘red’ to wear then they can wear something colourful. We are collecting €1/€2 euro per child for this worthy cause. If you would like to donate to this please send in the money in an envelope on Friday.
Hill of Tara
The pupils in 5th/6th class will be visited this Friday by a project group commissioned by National Monuments and the OPW to look at how people use the Hill of Tara. They will have a workshop with the school children to get their views on the Hill of Tara – how often they visit the site, knowledge of the site etc.
Swimming
The fourth swimming lesson takes place this Friday.
Board of Management Meeting
There is a Board of Management meeting in the school on Thursday 20th March.
Lambs!
We thank Caren Smyth for bringing in a few newborn lambs to the school today to show to the children. All classes were excited to see the lambs and some had the opportunity to feed and hold them. Thanks Caren.
Congratulations
Big congratulations to Camron, Sophie and Jake on Gavin’s great training performance in winning the Gold Cup at Cheltenham on Friday. We hope everyone enjoys the celebrations.
First Confession
The children in 2nd class received their First Confession last week – thanks to Fr. Thomas for the lovely ceremony and to Mrs Campbell for preparing the children for the sacrament. Thanks to Nicola for her organisation of the art work.
Half-Day Closure
The school will close at 12 Noon on Friday 28th March to facilitate the engagement of the staff with the new ‘Bí Cineálta’ Anti-Bullying Procedures.
