Dear Parents/Guardians
‘Bí Cineálta’ Anti-Bullying Procedures
As part of the Action Plan on Bullying, the Bi Cineálta Procedures to prevent and address bullying behaviour for Primary and Post-Primary Schools was published a few months ago. Circular 55/2024 provides details on changes and requirements. These procedures replace the 2013 anti-bullying procedures for Primary and Post-Primary schools, and the requirements of the procedures come into effect from September 1st 2025. Our present Anti-Bullying Policy, which was reviewed and ratified by the Board of Management in November 2024, will remain in place until September 1st 2025. This policy can be viewed on our school website. A hard copy is available on request from the office.
To facilitate the engagement of all school staff with the procedures the school will close at 12 noon on Friday March 28th for a staff meeting. I will also be liaising with the Parents’ Association in advance of this staff meeting.
Swimming
The pupils in 1st – 4th class will be going swimming in Navan Swimming Pool for five weeks starting on Friday February 28th. The cost (including bus) is €55. This can be paid online via Aladdin. If you would like to pay by cash please send in the money in an envelope with your child’s name on it.
Rugby Coaching
We have acquired the services of a coach from Ashbourne Rugby Club for tag-rugby training for the children in 1st – 6th class; it is starting on Tuesday 18th February until Tuesday 11th March.
Tara & District Credit Union Quiz
We thank all the children who participated in the Tara & District Credit Union Quiz on February 7th. Despite not getting to the next stage of the competition the children all enjoyed the experience and the practices leading up to the quiz. We thank Mrs Vaughan for preparing the children for the quiz.
Confirmation
The pupils in 6th class received their Confirmation last week. Thanks to Ms Kennedy for preparing the children for their important day and to Ms O’Donoghue for preparing the children from Rathfeigh for the choir. We thank Carmel who co-ordinated the choir for both schools. The children in 6th class showed great maturity in receiving their fourth sacrament and they represented themselves, their families and their school really well. Well done to them all.
Boost to Literacy
The children in 2nd class have completed five weeks in our ‘Boost to Literacy’ initiative. They were a pleasure to teach and made great progress. We thank all the parents of the children
for supporting their children with their reading at home. We will be commencing this initiative with 1st class pupils in a few weeks.
School Closure
Reminder school will be closed Thursday 20th and Friday 21st February for the mid-term break.
Is Mise,
Seamus Tansley
