A Thuisti,

Enrolment Week/Open Week

Our Enrolment Week/Open Week is from February 5th to February 9th. If your child is starting in Rathfeigh in September please call to the school to collect an Enrolment Form. If you know anybody that has a child of school-going age please let them know about our Open Week. Parents/guardians are invited to the school at any time during Open Week to view the school and talk to myself and other teachers about what the school has to offer, to see displays of pupils’ work and the great facilities on offer. We would be very grateful if parents/guardians could share this information about ‘Open Week’ on Facebook, Twitter etc.

Credit Union Quiz

Our four quiz teams participated really well in the Tara & District Credit Union Quiz last night. All four teams scored excellently and we are very proud of their efforts. One of our Under 13 teams lost out on first place in a tie-breaker. They weren’t, however, too disappointed with second place! One of our Under 11 teams also lost out in a tie-breaker for third place. Thanks to Mrs Vaughan for all the hard work in preparing the teams.

Friendship Week

We will be celebrating Friendship Week from February 5th to 9th. During the week we will be promoting respect and tolerance amongst all pupils. We will be re-inforcing our Anti-Bullying policy and what it includes. Our Anti-Bullying Policy is on the school website. A hard copy is available from the office.

RSE

We will continue teaching the RSE programme over the next few weeks. Our RSE Policy is on the school website.

Your child’s ‘Digital Footprint’

Most children don’t think of the long-term implications of what they are sharing online today. It may have an impact on their lives in the future. As parents we need to make our children aware of this.

– In the digital world content is never fully deleted. It can be copied and shared again

– Think before you post. The t-shirt rule is a good way of reminding children of reflecting before they post. If you wouldn’t wear what you are

going to post on the front of a t-shirt and wear it all day then it’s probably best not to post it.

– What you post today may have long term implications. It is very common for potential employers to research interviewees via their social media platforms. Internet Safety Day is on February 6th.

School Sign

The Board of Management is putting up a ‘Rathfeigh National Schoool – Scoil Mhuire Naofa’ sign in the next few weeks. The cost will be approximately €2000. The Board is looking for donations towards the cost of the sign.

Agreed Report

Please find attached the Agreed Report from the Board of Management meeting of January 22nd.

Vaccinations

M.M.R. & 4 in 1 Vaccinations for Junior Infants will take place in the school on Tuesday 20th February 2018. The children were given Vaccination Consent Forms last Monday. Please return completed forms to the office as soon as possible.

Operation Transformation – 10 at 10

To coincide with Operation Transformation on T.V. we will be doing fun physical activities for 10 – 15 minutes daily.

Is mise,

Seamus Tansley.
