A Thuisti,

Welcome back everyone after the Easter holidays. With approximately eleven weeks until the summer holidays it is very important that you continue to encourage your children to do their very best at school. It is vitally important that children have a routine, without distraction, when doing their homework especially with evenings getting longer! If you have any concerns about your child’s progress please make an appointment with the class teacher.

The Stay Safe programme will be covered on Tuesdays and Thursdays for the next few weeks. On some nights the children will have worksheets to complete to reinforce what was covered in class. It is important that parents are aware of what is being covered in the programme so encourage your child to talk about what they have written in the worksheets.

Tennis coaching for all classes starts on Wednesday for eight weeks. This will form part of the P.E. programme. It costs €10.00 per child. If you haven’t already paid please send in the money in an envelope.

The Literacy Lift Off programme for senior infants starts in early May. It will run for four weeks. Second class pupils have almost completed the programme. They are progressing really well and are really enjoying it.

The Girls Gaelic Football team are playing in the finals of the Meath 7-a-side gaelic football competition in Dunganny on Thursday April 11th at 3.00p.m. We will be leaving the school at 2.20p.m. It’s a fantastic achievement to get to the final and we are very proud of their efforts particularly as we have only two sixth class girls eligible to play on the team. We wish them the best of luck on Thursday.

The second class pupils received their First Confession before Easter. We would like to thank Fr. Thomas for the lovely ceremony, Ms. O’ Donoghue for preparing the children so well and the choir for singing beautifully on the night. The most praise, however, must go to the second class pupils who said their prayers perfectly and sang beautifully.

We have a very busy term ahead. Below are some important dates.

First Communion May 18th at 11.00a.m. in Rathfeigh Church.
Confirmation May 26th at 1.00p.m. in Skryne Church.

Is mise,
Seamus Tansley.
