HSE Public Health Advice
We have been asked by the HSE to share the following information with our school community.
- Flu is circulating in the community, with children being significantly affected.
- If your child is unwell he/she should remain at home to help prevent the spread of infection.
- Cough and sneeze etiquette, along with regular hand hygiene, are essential to limiting the spread of illness.
- The free nasal flu vaccine for children aged 2-17 is still available through local pharmacies and GPs

“Boost to Literacy”
Over the next few weeks the children in second class will be doing extra reading, writing and grammar as part of the “Boost to Literacy” (Literacy Lift Off) initiative. The children will have reading to do on a nightly basis and parents/guardians must sign the “Reading Record Sheet” daily in their folders. Mrs Vaughan and Mr Tansley will be organising the “Boost to Literacy” initiative.
Meath Local Enterprise Awareness Workshop
We have organised with the Meath Local Enterprise Office to visit the school this Tuesday (14th) for a free workshop with the pupils in 5th/6th class. The aim of the workshop is to show to the pupils that they all have the ability to come up with a business idea. It also aims to show that the very things they learn at school and their inherent abilities can make them a successful businessperson.
School Closures
Please note the following school closures in your diary as per the school calendar. The school will be closed on Friday January 30th and Monday February 3rd.
Parents’ Association Meeting
Our Parents’ Association have a meeting in the school this Wednesday(15th) at 8pm. A vibrant Parents’ Association is vital for the success of our school. The P.A. Carol Singing Fundraiser in Navan Shopping Centre before Christmas was a huge success. Thanks to all the parents, guardians and teachers who were in attendance on the day. A big thanks to all the children who sang their hearts out and to Agnes for her huge effort in making the day a huge success.
Attendance
The attendance figure for December was 92.4%.
