A Thuisti,

Folens Christmas Annuals

The Folens Christmas Annuals have been a tradition in Irish schools for many years. The annuals are great value and have a great mixture of stories, quizzes, puzzles, drawings etc. Helen will be ordering them this Wednesday. Please write a note in your child’s journal if you wish to order an annual. We will only be ordering the amount required. If your child is in Juniors or Seniors please let Mrs Vaughan know when you are dropping/collecting your child from school. The cost is €4.00.

Credit Union Art Competition

In October the children took part in the Credit Union Art competition ‘Imagine’. All entries were sent to the Tara & District Credit Union. The standard was very high but a few of our pupils won prizes which they received from Tara & District Credit Union on Thursday. Congratulations to Niall (1st class), Patrick (1st class), Eoin (5th class), Chloe (6th class) and Grace (6th class) who won prizes.

Book Fair

We are delighted to be in a position to run our annual Book Fair in the school hall again this year. Please check the e-mail we sent to parents/guardians last Thursday for details on the Book Fair. The school will receive commission from the sale of books. The children will have no written homework this week. We thank Mrs Campbell for co-ordinating the Book Fair.

Science in a Box

After having a productive Science Week in our school last week are now delighted to announce the return of the Science-in-a-Box programme for 5th and 6th class. This programme which is delivered by a scientist has been very beneficial to our pupils over the last few years. Last year we were happy to have a live Zoom session with the immunologist Luke O’Neill. This video is available to view on the home page of the school website. We thank Eimear Moffat for sponsoring the programme again this year.

Mindfulness/Well-Being

Mindfulness/Well-Being classes will continue for the next four weeks. The cost is €6.00 for six lessons. Please send in the money in an envelope with your child’s name on it by Wednesday 17th November.

We are having an official opening of ‘The Hideaway’ on November 24th.

Transition Year Pupils

We always look forward to welcoming past pupils who want to do their Transition Year Work Placement in our school. They always do a great job for us when they come to the school. At the moment Josh and Anna are with us and they are doing a marvellous job. Thanks.

Is mise,

Seamus Tansley.
