Book Fair
The Book Fair was a tremendous success again this year. It was great to see the children engrossed in their books that they bought during the week. A big thanks to Mrs Mc Auley for co-ordinating the Book Fair. The week ran very smoothly with parents very generously giving of their time to help out at the Book Fair. A huge thanks to Carol Pentony, Caren Smith, Fionnuala Lenehan, Aisling Murphy, Stephenie Brady, Pauline Mc Manus and Teresa Mangan. Their help was greatly appreciated by all.
Parent Teacher Meetings
Parent/Teacher meetings take place this Wednesday (22nd) and Thursday (23rd) from 1.30p.m. to 3.45p.m. The children have been given the times for the meetings. Please check your child’s journal. The school closes at 1.15p.m. for all children on these days. There is no school bus at 1.15p.m. on Wednesday and Thursday.
Literacy Lift Off
Literacy Lift Off starts this week for children in First Class. It will last for four weeks. A big thanks to Stephenie Brady, Teresa Mangan, Amanda Callaghan and Anastasia Clarke for helping us out during Literacy Lift Off.
National Parents Council (Meath County Branch
On Thursday November 30th at 7.30p.m. in The Ardboyne Hotel there is a training event for parents/guardians ‘Supporting Parents to Support their Children’s Mental Health and Wellbeing’. Parents/guardians will learn how to build and nurture resilence within their own child and be given tips on how best to support their child’s positive mental health and wellbeing. This event is very worthwhile attending and it is free.
Science Week
Due to the Book Fair last week we will now celebrate Science Week this week. We will be doing a variety of interesting activities during the week.
Sixth Class Badminton
The children in sixth class have been offered an exciting opportunity to attend the Badminton
Irish Open on December 6th in the National Indoor Arena in Dublin. The children will get the chance to watch top Irish players in action, but also avail of a ‘free play’ session and meet and greet with an Irish international player. The children will be going by bus and the cost is €11.00. The children will be leaving at 10.00a.m. and returning at 2.00p.m. approx. Please send in money in an envelope as soon as possible. (Sixth class Golf lessons will take place after Christmas).
School Sign
The Board of Management has decided to put up a ‘Rathfeigh National School – Scoil Mhuire Naofa Rathfaiche’ sign on the front of the school building. The board is currently
looking into the cost of the signage and is looking for sponsorship for this. We would greatly appreciate your support with this matter.
School Jerseys
We were overwhelmed with the number of people who expressed an interest in sponsoring school jerseys for girls and boys. I will contact people who are interested in sponsoring the jerseys during the week. If anyone is interested please let me know this week.
Green Schools Committee
The Green Schools Committee had their first meeting today. We will inform parents/guardians and pupils of developments during the next week or two.
Pre-Communion Mass
There is a Pre-Communion Mass practice this Friday (24th) in Rathfeigh Church at 1.30p.m. The children will be leaving at 1.25p.m. We will need help with lifts.
Agreed Report
Please find attached the Agreed Report from the Board of Management meeting of November 13th.
The school is closed on Friday December 1st (as per school calendar).
