A Thuisti,

Tomorrow is Pancake Tuesday. We have a tradition in the school of sixth class parents making pancakes for all pupils in the school. If your child is not to get a pancake please let the class teacher know. We will need a few parents to help the children with the making of the pancakes.
This Wednesday is Ash Wednesday. Fr. Thomas may be visiting the school. If your child is not to get the ‘ashes’ please let the class teacher know.
Our Boy’s Gaelic Football team play their first match tomorrow in Moynalvey. They will be leaving the school at 1.10p.m. We will need help with lifts. Our girls Gaelic Football team play in Moynalvey on Thursday (March 2nd). They will be leaving the school at 1.00p.m. We will need help with lifts.
Our Under 11 Quiz team take part in the Credit Union Chapter Final this Friday in the Pillo Hotel Ashbourne at 7.30p.m. We wish them the best of luck. A big thanks to Mrs Vaughan for preparing the children for the quiz.
All classes start the Stay Safe Programme this week. The children may have worksheets to complete at home.
There is a ‘School Attendance’ forum for parents/guardians on Tuesday March 7th from 2.40p.m. to 3.15p.m. This forum will also be attended by teachers and members of the Board of Management. Under Section 22 of the Educational Welfare Act 2000 the Board of Management must prepare and submit to Tusla – Child and Family Agency a Statement of Strategy for School Attendance. This must be in place for the start of the 2017/18 school year. Parental involvement in the Statement of Strategy for School Attendance is essential so we can draw on year experiences and reinforce the importance of regular attendance and also the responsibility of parents/guardians for attendance.
This Friday is Non Uniform Day. We hope all pupils can donate €2.00 each. This money will go to Aoghan Mc Connell (past pupil) who is going to Ghana to do charity work as part of his Transition Year Project. They will be in Ghana for two weeks helping to build schools in disadvantaged areas.
Is mise,
Seamus Tansley.
