A Thuisti,
BookFair
All families were e-mailed last Thursday about the procedures we have in place for the running of our annual Book Fair. Families who pay for books today using the automated payment system will be able to get the books in school tomorrow. Please check the e-mail and go through the book catalogue with your children. There is no obligation whatsoever to buy a book. We will have fun activities during the week to celebrate the Book Fair. A big thanks to Mrs Campbell for co-ordinating the Book Fair.
Art & Craft, Copies and Insurance
On October 13th all families were sent an e-mail with a link to pay online. If you haven’t already paid please do so this week. If you are having difficulties paying please don’t hesitate to contact the school. If you want to check if your account is up to date go to the school website. Click on ‘Aladdin’ and put in your e-mail address. You will then receive an e-mail which will give the current status of your account.
Confirmation for Sixth Class
The Bishop of Meath, Tom Deenihan, has been in contact with schools in the diocese of Meath regarding Confirmation for sixth class pupils. Due to Covid 19 and the adherence to public health guidelines he can’t be specific about the date for the Confirmation this year. He hopes that by mid January things will be clearer in relation to giving a specific date. The sixth class pupils have been given a letter today from the Bishop of Meath about preparing for the Confirmation.
Class Presentation
I visited Third and Fourth class on Friday to listen to an oral presentation by the children on various topics. The standard on display was exceptional. The children were very knowledgeable about their chosen topics and they spoke with great confidence. After listening to the children I wouldn’t be surprised if we have a future President of Ireland in our midst.
Student Council
We had our first meeting on Friday with our New Student Council members Faye, Rhys, Isobel and Lucy. The student council will be meeting every Friday to discuss issues of concern among pupils, and to listen to their ideas for the school. The above members will be in place until Christmas. A new student council will be in place after Christmas.
Credit Union Art Competition
Well done to Aoibhlinn (1st|) and Isabelle (6th) for coming first and second respectively (age categories) in the ‘Imagine More’ art competition. They won lovely prizes and we hope they enjoy them. Well done!
The children who brought in their Credit Union books on Friday will get them returned from Tara & District Credit Union tomorrow Tuesday.
Science Week
This week we will be celebrating ‘Science Week’. We hope to focus on some science experiments for homework which the children can upload to Edmodo. RTE will have a variety of interesting programmes dealing with scientific matters that are impacting on us presently and in the future. Tune into RTE1 on November 10th ,11th,12th, 13th (Tuesay – Friday) at 7p.m. to science programmes presented by Liz Bonnin (science, natural history and environmental broadcaster).
Vaccinations
On Thursday Junior Infants brought home consent forms for booster vaccinations MMR/4 in 1. Due to Covid 19 the Schools Immunisation Programme has been suspended until further notice. The HSE will collect these forms from us. Can you please return the completed form in the envelope provided. If your child already received these vaccines or you do not wish for your child to receive these vaccines please sign (Part 3) and return form to the school.
Is mise,
Seamus Tansley.
