Dear Parents/Guardians,

Enrolments for September 2025

Parents/Guardians of children starting school in September 2025 were e-mailed today regarding their applications for admissions for their children for the 2025/2026 school year (a hard copy will also be sent in the post today). We ask parents/guardians to confirm acceptance of an offer of admission as soon as possible. The Annual Admissions Notice is on the school website. If you have a child starting school in September 2025 and you haven’t sent in an Enrolment Form please contact the school today.

HSE Public Health Advice

In last week’s letter I gave information from the HSE regarding the flu that is circulating in the community. Unfortunately, some children are still coming to school with symptoms of flu. This may result in other children and staff getting the virus. Please respect the following advise from the HSE.

  • Flu is circulating in the community with children being significantly affected.
  • If your child is unwell he/she should remain at home to help prevent the spread of infection.
  • Cough & sneeze etiquette, along with regular hand hygiene, are essential to limiting the spread of illness.
  • The free nasal flu vaccine for children aged 2-17 years is still available through local pharmacies & GP’s.

Catholic Schools Week

We will be celebrating ‘Catholic Schools Week 2025 – Alive in Christ’ this week. All classes will be doing a variety of lessons this week on the theme.

‘Boost to Literacy’

The pupils in 2nd class started the ‘Boost to Literacy’ initiative last week and they have engaged very positively with the programme. Please continue to sign your child’s ‘Reading Record’ sheet on a daily basis.

Deposit Return Scheme

A large number of bottles/cans were brought into the school after Christmas. Thank you. All children have already benefited from the scheme as they got a free Folens Christmas Annual in December. We need, however, parents/guardians to return bottles/cans on a weekly basis for the scheme to run smoothly. If you intend to return bottles/cans in the next week or so please contact the school. Thank you.
