A Thuisti,

Finals in Rounders

Our Girls’ and Boys’ Rounders’ teams are through to the Meath finals. Both teams won exciting semi-finals and we are very proud of their efforts to date. The Boys Final is this Monday (23rd October) in Navan O’Mahony’s (next to Pairc Tailteann) at 3.15p.m. We will be leaving the school at 2.25p.m. The date/time for the Girls’ Final has yet to be fixed.

Football Coaching/7-a-side Football/Golf

Gaelic football coaching with Eddie Mc Cormack continues next Monday for all classes during school. The boys’ and girls’ 7-a-side football blitzes are due to take place next week in Skryne. Due to the school’s participation in a number of sporting events over the coming two weeks the golf sessions (sixth class) will now take place in November.

Green School/Green Flag

We have registered with Green Schools Ireland which is Ireland’s leading environmental management and education programme for schools. It promotes long-term whole-school action for the environment. The first part of the process is to set up a committee consisting of staff, parents/guardians and most importantly pupils. If you are interested in being on the committee please contact the school before Friday.

Student Council

We had a very productive first student council meeting last week. As a result of this meeting we will have a ‘Friendship Corner’ in the yard as well as a cake sale before Halloween. The proceeds of the cake sale will go towards the purchase of a table tennis table for the back of the school.

Maths Week

This week is Maths Week. We will be doing a variety of interesting and fun maths activities during the course of the week. I would encourage all parents/guardians to log into mathsweek.ie with their children on a daily basis . There is loads of fun activities to do e.g. maths art, problem solving etc. On the school website under ‘Links’ we have several interesting mathematical websites also which can compliment work done in class. If you come across a useful/interesting websites please let us know and we can put it on the website.

Accord

Accord facilitators delivered part of the RSE programme to sixth class pupils today. The RSE policy can be viewed on the school website. A hard copy can be obtained from the office.

Pre-Communion Mass

There is a Pre-Communion Mass practice for second class pupils in Rathfeigh Church this Friday at 1.30p.m. We will be leaving the school at 1.25p.m. We will need help with lifts.

Halloween Fancy Dress/Pumpkin Competition

Parents/Guardians are invited to the school on Friday October 27th from 9.15 to 10.00a.m. for our Halloween Fancy Dress. Later on that day we will be judging the pumpkin competition. The school closes on October 27th at 1.40p.m. for all pupils.

Parents’ Association

The Parents’ Association AGM took place on the 26thSeptember. Unfortunately this was poorly attended and subsequently members have left the Committee after putting in many years of their time and support.  The school relies heavily on the Parents’ Association as the funds they raise are greatly rewarded back to the children.  To keep the Parents’ Association continuing we really need your support, otherwise no one benefits – most importantly our children. Contact Hazel on 087 8244202 if you would like to join.

School Bus Parking

Please do not park in the Bus Bay in the morning and at home time. The County Council have today clearly outlined the area for bus parking outside the school.

School Tracksuit

We ask all parents to put their children’s names on school tracksuits. A pupil lost their tracksuit top age 11-12 two to three weeks ago. There was no name on this top. Please check at home in case it was brought home by mistake.

Is mise,

Seamus Tansley.
