Dear Parents/Guardians

Halloween Fancy Dress/Pumpkin Competition

The children are invited to come to school this Friday dressed up in ‘Fancy Dress’. If your child is taking part in the Pumpkin Competition he/she should design the pumpkin at home during the week. On Friday morning all pumpkins should be brought to the school hall between 8.50am & 9am. As the pumpkins will be heavy parents/guardians should bring their child’s pumpkin to the hall. Please put your child’s name on a piece of paper and put it in the pumpkin. At home-time the pumpkins will be on tables outside the front of the school so please collect the pumpkins for your child. We will have small prizes for the ‘best’ three pumpkins in each class.

The school closes at 1.40pm for ALL children this Friday. There is a school bus at 1.40pm.

Healthy lunches are optional on Friday.

Boys’ Football Semi-Final

Our boys’ team have reached the Cumann na mBunscol Gaelic Football semi-final for the third consecutive year and we are all very proud of their effort this year. The semi-final takes place this Thursday 24th October in Walterstown GFC at 12.30pm. We will be leaving the school at 11.50am and will need help with lifts. Please arrange a lift for your child if you can’t attend yourself.

‘Re-turn’ Bottle Scheme

We are into our third week of collecting cans/bottles in school. The enthusiasm from the children has been great and this re-cycling scheme will benefit all the children in the school.

In week 1 we collected 265 bottles/cans

In week 2 we collected 177 bottles/cans.

Thanks to everyone for helping us out in this recycling initiative.

Junior Achievement Ireland

Junior Achievement Ireland (JAI) is a member of one of the world’s largest educational non-profit organisations, helping prepare young people for their futures by delivering hands-on, experiential learning in entrepreneurship, employability, financial literacy and the value of STEAM. I was in contact with JAI a few weeks ago and I have organised for a member of JAI to deliver a few lessons to the 5th/6th class pupils in November. A consent form was given to the 5th/6th class pupils today. Please read over the Consent Form and return it tomorrow.

Swimming

The final swimming session for 3rd-6th class takes place tomorrow. We compliment the children for their excellent behaviour and their enthusiasm over the last six weeks.

Irish Book Week

To celebrate Irish Book Week the children won’t have any written homework this week. They will have reading to do on a daily basis.

Halloween Break

The school closes this Friday 25th at 1.40pm for the Halloween break. It will re-open on Monday November 4th. The children have been working really hard and they deserve a well-earned break. We wish everyone a safe and enjoyable Halloween break.

Reminder: Swimming, Art & Crafts, Insurance & Homework Journal

We sent you a link for payment. If you are sending in cash to the School please put it in an envelope with your child’s name and class on it.

We hoped to have all outstanding payments paid by the Halloween break however if you would like to pay by instalments you can do so via Aladdin.
