A Thuisti,

Boys’ ‘Final’ Victory

Last Saturday will live long in the memory after our Boys’ Football Team defeated Kilbride in the final at Pairc Tailteann. We meet at the school at 11.00a.m. with nerves understandably jangling.  After limbering up before the game the boys seemed to be very focussed and we knew a big performance was on the cards. We played against the breeze in the first half and let by 4 – 4 to 2 – 5 at half time. A very solid second half performance ended with Rathfeigh winning by 6 – 12 to 2 – 9. It is rare in any final when all players play to their potential but that is what happened on Saturday. Every player showed determination and courage and fought tooth and nail for every ball. We are exceptionally proud of their efforts and we hope they will remember the day for many years to come. I would like to thank Paul and Bridget Copeland (Copeland Coppersmiths) for sponsoring the jerseys this year. The jerseys definitely brought us luck as the boys won all their eight matches this year wearing their new jerseys! A big thanks to Paul also for paying for the pizzas in the school after the game. A big thanks to everyone who made sandwiches etc for the large group of supporters at the school and to Colette Monahan for providing the ice-creams. A special word of thanks goes to the fantastic support that we received in Páirc Tailteann and at the school afterwards and to Brian and Cormac for their assistance on the sideline.

Girls Football

The boys were in the limelight this weekend but we mustn’t forget the fantastic achievement of our Girls’ football team this year. They lost last Thursday in the semi-final against Oristown. They played really well this year and improved game on game and they deserve huge credit for their efforts this year. Thanks to Ms. O’Donaghue and Teresa for training the girls this year and to Tara Developments for sponsoring the jerseys.
