A Thuisti,

Sixth Class Graduation

The Sixth Class Graduation takes place this Wednesday (23rd) at 7.30p.m. at the rear of the school weather permitting. It will be a unique occasion as it will be the first time the ceremony will be held outdoors. This is always a special event for the sixth class pupils and we hope they have a memorable and enjoyable evening. At the ceremony all attendees over 13 years of age must wear a face mask. The family groupings will be in pods and socially distant. On the evening please come to the rear of the school via the gate at the side of the school hall (teachers carpark).

Confirmation

The Confirmation for sixth class pupils takes place on Tuesday 13th July at 7.30p.m. in St. Mary’s Church in Navan. The children should be at the church at 7.10p.m.

The Bishop has outlined that the congregation should be confined to the candidate and the candidate’s sponsor and parents/guardians. Social distancing will be strictly adhered to. Since movement during the ceremony will be kept to a minimum, one pupil from Rathfeigh and one pupil from Skryne will read the First and Second readings. One pupil from Rathfeigh and Skryne will read a Prayer of the Faithful each .We wish all the pupils a spiritual and enjoyable Confirmation.

Communion

The celebration of First Holy Communion has been postponed to September. When we get a specific date for this we will let you know immediately.

Relay Marathon/Sensory Room

Our Parents’ Association did a great job organising our Relay Marathon last Wednesday. It was a thoroughly enjoyable event with smiles on the faces of the children all day and particularly when they saw the ice-cream van arriving. The amount collected exceeded even the most optimistic €3100! We thank everyone who contributed. It really is an astonishing amount to collect for a small school. All proceeds will go towards our Sensory Space. Work on the Sensory Space is well under way. Thanks to Mrs Vaughan and Nicola for co-ordinating this project.

Summer Holidays

It’s been a difficult 18 months for everyone due to Covid-19. The children have been very resilient and have adapted well. Of course we got great support from all parents/guardians for which we thank you. All our staff have been exceptional this year and I am proud of what we have achieved despite the difficult circumstances. The school closes this Thursday (24th) at 12 noon for all children. There is no school bus. We will re-open after the summer holidays on August 26th. We hope everyone has time to re-charge the batteries. We wish everyone a safe, relaxing and enjoyable summer.
