24th June, 2013.
We had two very busy exciting days in the school last week. On Thursday Mrs Vaughan’s fifth and sixth class pupils performed a medley of tunes on the tin whistle for their parents. They have reached a very high standard in a relatively short time and we thank Mrs Vaughan for helping the children reach this high standard. This was followed by our Talent Show. There was an array of talent on show from all classes and we all thoroughly enjoyed the day. On Friday we had our jumble. It was a very successful day and the children were buzzing with excitement throughout the day. We collected €771.00 which will go towards the cost of revamping the library earlier in the year. The sixth class pupils were excellent running their stalls and they were very helpful and encouraging the younger children. We thank Mrs Vaughan for organising the sale and for making it a day to remember. Photographs of the children in the talent show will be on the school website in the next few days.
Mr Kelly finishes in Rathfeigh N.S. on Tuesday. We want to thank him for his hard work and commitment over the last six months. The children worked hard and enjoyed his classes. We wish Mr Kelly continued success in his teaching career and we hope to see him wearing the Galway jersey over the summer months.
Under the Education (Welfare) Act, 2000, schools are obliged to report to the National Educational Welfare Board all pupils who are absent from school for a cumulative total of twenty days or more. I will inform you by letter if your child has been absent for twenty days or more.
The end of year Graduation Mass for sixth class pupils is on Tuesday night at 7.30p.m.
The school closes for the summer holidays on Wednesday at 12.00 noon. There is a school bus. We will re-open on Thursday 29th August. We wish everyone in the Rathfeigh school community a safe and enjoyable summer holiday.
