Dear Parents/Guardians,

Congratulations

A huge congratulations to James O’Rourke on winning the CPSMA Art Competition which he entered himself a few weeks ago. James won the Junior Section out of 3,200 entries. He will be attending a prize giving ceremony next week at which the Minister for Education, Helen McEntee, will be in attendance. Well done James.

A week of great excitement in the Cromwell family culminated with the parading of the two Cheltenham winning horses at the school on Friday afternoon. All the children were in awe of getting so close to the two horses – ‘Stumptown’ (Cross Country Chase Winner) and ‘Inothewayurthinkin’ (Gold Cup Winner). It was an extra special occasion for Camron, Sophie and Jake which will, hopefully, live long in their memories. We thank Gavin for bringing the horses to the school and to Grace and Caoimhe for parading the horses. A great day was had by all present and the children also enjoyed having the ice-cream van for the occasion.

Bí Cineálta Anti-Bullying Procedures

The school will close at 12 Noon this Friday March 28th to facilitate the engagement of all the staff and Parents’ Association with the content of the new Bí Cineálta Anti-Bullying procedures.

Wear Red Day

Thanks to everyone who supported the ‘Wear Red Day’ last Friday. We collected €76.80 which will be sent to the Immigrant Council of Ireland.

Hill of Tara

Members of the OPW visited 5th/6th class last Friday to get information from the children about their knowledge and use of the Hill of Tara. The feedback to Ms Kennedy and myself after the visit was excellent with the visitors from the OPW speaking very complimentary and highly about the 5th/6th class.

Free Education Day at Fairyhouse Racecourse

The children in 5th/6th class will be visiting Fairyhouse Racecourse on Wednesday April 2nd (provisionally) for the HRI Racing Juniors Education Day. It will provide the pupils with behind the scenes experience of their local racecourse. There is a possibility that RTE News 2day will be present to record the event for their show. The children will be going by bus. The cost of the bus is €15.

Re-Turn Scheme

We are progressing really will with the Re-Turn of bottles/cans initiative. We have a few bags that need returning. For the initiative to run more smoothly we need more people willing to return the bottles/cans. Please email/phone the school if you can return a bag during the week.

Swimming

The final swimming session takes place this Friday.
