Second class pupils will celebrate their First Holy Communion this Saturday (May 18th) in Rathfeigh Church at 11.00a.m. It is an exciting time for the children as they prepare to receive their third Sacrament. We would like to thank Ms. O’Donoghue for all her hard work in preparing the children for their big day. We also want to thank Agnes Fox for getting the choir prepared for Saturday. We hope that the sun is shining down on the children on Saturday and that they have an enjoyable and spiritual day.
We have been in contact with the Rathfeigh Historical Society with the intention of getting members of the society to come into the school on a regular basis to talk to the children and give them extra information on various aspects of the history of Rathfeigh. We have decided to start with the history of Rathfeigh Church where many of the children were baptised and where the children attending Rathfeigh N.S. receive their First Confession and First Communion.
Photographs from the opening of the library and from the ceilí for St. Patrick’s Day are now on our school website (www.rathfeighns.org). Also on the website are links to mathematical websites which can be used to reinforce what has been learned in class. We are constantly trying to improve the website and your suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Our standardised tests in English and Maths for all children in first to sixth classes will take place from Tuesday 28th May to Thursday 30th May.
Ms Higgins will continue to teach Senior Infants until Mrs Campbell’s return in early June.
There will be dental checks for first and fourth classes in the school on Thursday May 16th.
The Skryne Cubs/Beavers/Scouts are hoping to get a grant from the Spar Community initiative to help get some work done in the basement of Skryne Hall. There are tokens in the Sunday Independent from May 12th to June 23rd. If you buy the Sunday Independent or know anyone who does, it would be greatly appreciated if you could send the tokens into Helen in the office.
Reminder – Please send in €10.00 tour deposit as soon as possible.
Shay Casserly will be doing a dvd of the Confirmation. If you wish to order a copy please send in €20.00 in an envelope to the office.
