Imlitir 2 6th September, 2012.
A Thuisti,
We’re back in school a week and the summer holidays seem like a distant memory already! All the children have settled in and are working really well. The Junior Infants are adapting well to their new surroundings. It feels like they’ve been here for weeks. From Monday 10th September the Junior Infants will go home at 1.40p.m.
It’s great to see children speaking a little Irish around the school. Our ‘Frása na seachtaine’ (phrase of the week) is Dia duit/Dia is Mhuire duit (Hello) and our ‘Briathar na seachtaine’ (verb of the week) is ‘dún’ (close). Please encourage your children to use these phrases at home on a regular basis for example dún and doras, dún an fhuinneog, dún do mhála scoile, dún an geata. When greeting people the children should get into the habit of saying ‘dia duit’.
The ‘Literacy Lift Off ‘ books have been delivered to the school. There are several hundred books that need to be covered. We would be very grateful if some parents could help out with the covering of these books next week. Please contact the school if you would be available to help out.
The cost per pupil this year for Art & Craft is €20.00. Please send in money as soon as possible (in an envelope with child’s name and class on it).
School Insurance The school, like every other school in Ireland, does not carry Personal Accident Insurance. So if your child were to trip in the yard and fall he would not be covered for any ensuing injuries. The school does however carry Public Liability Insurance. Under this insurance a child’s injuries could be covered if, through legal process, it could be proven that the accident happened through culpable negligence on the part of the school. As it is unlikely that injuries will be compensated through the above, Allianz each year offers to parents a Personal Accident Policy cost €7.00 which provides medical insurance to cover all accidents 24 hours a day. We ask all families to take out this cover. Payment can be made to the school when you are paying for arts and crafts. Please put money in an envelope and mark child’s name, class and amount on outside one envelope per family is sufficient.
In order to update our records please return contact numbers slip as soon as possible.
If you are collecting your child early from school please remember to sign the sign out book in the office.
Second class pupils will receive their First Communion on May 18th 2013 in Rathfeigh Church at 11.00a.m.
There is a Board of Management Meeting this Saturday.
Is mise,
Seamus Tansley.
