6th January, 2014.
A Thuisti,
Welcome back everyone after the Christmas break. I hope everyone had an enjoyable and restful Christmas. As we start 2014 with positivity and optimism we, as parents, should continue to encourage and praise our children on a daily basis and play an active role in their education. After the distractions and excitement of Christmas it is important that a homework routine is established. Please check your child’s homework for neat presentation and sign their school journal on a nightly basis. Please, also, ensure that your child is wearing the correct school uniform for the rest of the school year.
Swimming starts for first, second and sixth classes this Wednesday (January 8th) for six weeks. We have a large number of children going swimming so we will need seven or eight parents to travel to the swimming lessons (unfortunately there will be no space to travel on the bus). The cost of the swimming lessons is €45.00. Please send in the money in an envelope as soon as possible and please return the slip below if you are able to help with supervision.
Third and fourth classes will be taking part in a ‘ Music in the Classroom’ workshop in Drogheda on Monday 13th January. They will be travelling by bus and leaving the school at 9.15.a.m. The cost is €15.00 please send in the money in an envelope as soon as possible.
Literacy Lift Off for first class pupils continues this week.
I would like to remind parents that standardised tests in English and maths for all pupils in first to sixth classes will take place from Monday 26th May to Friday 30th May. All children must be in attendance for these tests.
I would like to wish everyone in the Rathfeigh school community a happy and successful 2014.
Is mise,
Seamus Tansley.
